Former Hornet gymnast Megan Kyle was named an assistant coach in the summer of 2023 where she will primarily work on bars.
During her first year with the team (2024), Sacramento State recorded two of the top five team bars scores in school history. The Hornets totaled 49.300 against Air Force and were led by a school-record 9.975 from Kara Houghton. At the MPSF Championships, the team scored 49.175 with Houghton receiving a 9.925. Both marks rank fifth in the Hornet record book. Houghton was named second team all-MPSF on bars and qualified for the NCAA Berkeley Regional as an event specialist. Freshman Jillianne Lastra was also named second team all-MPSF.
Kyle previously served as a volunteer coach during the 2023 season. During the year, the team recorded the fourth-highest bars score in school history and recorded six individual career highs. Kyle competed for the Hornets from 2014-17 on vault, bars and beam. She was named second team all-MPSF on vault in 2016 where she averaged 9.728. That season, she tied for third place at the MPSF Championships with a career high of 9.825.
