Jake Saavedra joined the Sacramento State sports medicine staff as an associate head athletic trainer in April 2025. In this role, he serves as the head football athletic trainer for the Hornets.
Prior to his arrival at Sacramento State, Saavedra spent the 2024 season as the head football athletic trainer at New Mexico State. His professional experience also includes work with the Las Vegas Raiders, Alabama, San Diego State and UC Santa Barbara. Notably, he was a member of the 2020 national championship team at Alabama.
Saavedra holds multiple professional certifications, including dry needling, blood flow restriction therapy, RockTape, and sports manual therapy.
He earned his bachelor of science in athletic training from Fresno State in 2015, followed by a master of education from Holy Names in 2017.
Originally from Patterson, Calif., Jake resides with his fiancée, Sarah, and their dog, Meadow.
