After serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Emmanuel College, for the last two-plus seasons, Enrique Alcacer joined the Sacramento State women’s tennis program as a volunteer assistant in August of 2022.

In his two full seasons as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs, the native of Valencia, Spain, helped lead the Lions’ men’s team to a 5-7 mark during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 spring campaign, and a 9-7 mark — including a 6-2 record against Conference Carolinas opponents — in 2020-21. In 2021, the women’s team clinched the Conference Carolinas regular season title with an 11-6 overall record and a 9-1 record in league play.

His coaching resume also includes time with Academia Tenis 92 in his hometown, working with various age groups ranging from six to 50, creating individualized plans to support the goals of the athletes.

As a student-athlete, Alcacer with a four-year letter winner for the Division II Lions in Franklin Springs, Ga., helping Emmanuel College to a 2018 National Christian College Athletic Association national runner-up finish as the No. 6 seed, falling to top-seeded Campbellsville University, and ended the year ranked no. 2 in the nation with a 14-6 overall record.

A two-time team captain as a junior and senior, Alcacer finished the 2017-18 campaign with a 23-8 overall singles record, including a 9-1 mark against conference opponents. He achieved a top 900 open ranking in Spain with a high of 11.7 in singles and 11.0 in doubles in the Universal Tennis Ranking.

Alcacer graduated from Emmanuel College in the spring of 2020 with degrees in mathematics and business administration with a concentration in information systems. He is currently pursuing his masters in computer science at Sacramento State.
