Brett Juarez grew up in Madera, Calif., where he lettered in football, wrestling, and baseball. He attended Kent State University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, with a minor in Criminology and Justice Studies in 2014.
Over the next five years, Juarez went on to gain professional experience in a variety of roles and industries such as an Investigator for the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Contractor’s State License Board, and Enforcement Division. During this time, he also competed as an amateur boxer from 2017 -19 under his head coach and Sacramento legend, Brandon “Flawless” Gonzales.
Juarez enrolled at the University of Montana in 2019. He studied Counselor Education with a concentration of School Counseling and earned his Master’s degree in May of 2022. During his time at Montana, Juarez worked in Athletic Academic Services. He primarily worked with Football where he mentored student-athletes, monitored study hall, performed class checks, job shadowed the Athletics Academic Advisors, and helped teach the EDU 163 course “Student-Athlete Success.”
Upon graduating from Montana, Juarez went to Troy, Mont., where he served the Troy community as a high school teacher from Fall 2022 to Spring 2025. His class was titled “Study Skills” and he provided intervention support for at-risk students, as well as teaching skills for academic success such as Time Management, Organizational Skills, Test Preparation, Study Habits, Note Taking Strategies, and Active reading skills.
Juarez joined Eastern Washington in 2025 as the Senior Athletics Academic Advisor. Juarez is very proud of the initiatives he implemented at EWU and the quality relationships he built. He implemented Study Hall for student-athletes, a Peer Mentoring program, class checks, Eagle Cup, and monitoring systems for tracking NCAA progress. EWU Cheer, Women’s Golf, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, and Track & Field achieved their highest team GPA’s in school history under Juarez’s advisement.
Juarez joined Sacramento State in December of 2025 as an NCAA Compliance Coordinator. He thrives on building meaningful relationships with Staff, Coaches, Student-Athletes, and Campus Partners.
Juarez is passionate about higher education, athletics, and mentorship. His hobbies include hiking with his dogs, watching sporting events, and barbecuing.
Juarez lives in Folsom with his fiancé Carmen, their German Shepherd Mamba, and their Pitbull Lulu.
