Ashley Dewitt

Ashley Dewitt was named the throws coach for the Sacramento State Track & Field teams in December of 2022.

AT SACRAMENTO STATE

2024 Season
  • Abby Meder and Breanna Espinoza each scored for the team at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships. Meder finished fourth in the shot put and was seventh in the discus. Espinoza was fifth in the discus.
  • Diego Lopez recorded the ninth-longest hammer throw by a Sacramento State thrower with a toss of 194-08 to finish fifth at the Big Sky Championships.
  • John Maka was fourth in the discus at the conference meet. Maka also finished in the event in three meets during the year.

AT VIRGINIA STATE

  • Dewitt came to the Hornets after serving as an assistant at Virginia State from 2017-22.
  • During her time at VSU, she coached 12 individual Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association champions, had five student-athletes finish as runner up and 24 score points at the conference meet by finishing in the top eight.
  • Led a talented group of throwers to help Virginia State win six CIAA team titles.
  • She mentored Jeia Gilliam to a second-place finish in the discus at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships and also a trip to the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put.
  • Along with her coaching duties, Dewitt oversaw maintenance and allocation of all event group equipment and facility use.
  • Also assisted with travel planning and recruited in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and the District of Columbia.

AT INDIANA TECH

  • An assistant coach at Indiana Tech from 2015-17.
  • In her short time there, she coached 10 men’s and two women’s Div. II All-Americans in the shot put.
  • Her throwers dominated the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, winning 16 event titles at conference indoor and outdoor meets and added 10 second-place finishes.

AT TIFFIN

  • A two-time NCAA Div. II All-American at Tiffin University in Ohio. 
  • Competed in the shot put, discus weight throw, hammer throw and javelin in college.
  • In 2013, she finished third at the NCAA Div. II Indoor Championships with a career best of 50-00.50 (15.25m) and also competed in the weight throw.
  • That outdoor season, she was qualified for the NCAA Div. II Championships in the shot put and hammer.
  • As a senior in 2014, she returned in both events at the indoor and outdoor nationals.
  • That same season, she set her PR in the hammer with a throw of 181-01 (55.20m).
 
The native of Kokomo, Ind., graduated from Tiffin with a bachelor’s in business administration in 2010 and adder her MBA in 2015.
