Alana Holt returns to Sacramento State as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator in 2026-27, bringing a well-rounded background of four years of Div. I coaching experience, and three years as a Div. I student-athlete.
Holt originally joined Sacramento State as a student-athlete, competing for the Hornets from 2017-20. She also was an assistant coach at her alma mater during the 2022-23 season.
In between her coaching stints with the Hornets included two seasons at Clemson (2024-26), gaining valuable ACC coaching experience while continuing to coach at high-level summer camps such as RSR Elite in Alabama. In fact, she coached the U23 8+ boat to first, second and third place finishes at RSR Elite in 2024. She also led the Youth 4- to a gold and U23 4+ to a silver at the US Rowing Rowfest National Championships in Oklahoma City.
Prior to Clemson, she was an assistant coach for one season (2023-24) at Duquesne in Pittsburgh, where she coached the varsity eight to a victory at the Head of Ohio and assisted in developing 14 CRCA Scholar-Athletes.
In her first stint as a Sacramento State assistant coach in 2022-23, Holt worked with several boats and spent the majority of her time coaching the Hornets’ fours and novice eight. She was part of a Hornet coaching staff that guided the team’s varsity eight to a bronze medal, second varsity eight to a gold, and novice eight to a silver at the WIRA Championship. It marked the first time Sacramento State’s varsity eight, second varsity eight and novice eight all medaled at the same WIRA Championship since 2012.
Her coaching tenure began as an assistant for Capital Crew in 2021-22, where she helped coach the program to impressive finishes at the 2022 Youth Nationals. That included a first place finish in the pair, and a fifth place finish for the U17 Eight. In addition, the eight won the San Diego Crew Classic.
A native of Folsom, Calif., Holt graduated from Sacramento State in 2022 with a communication studies degree.
