Biography

2025 Season
• Named honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference in her first season with the Hornets
• A very valuable part of the staff, Ortiz made a team-high 28 appearances in relief
• In 32 appearances (four starts), Ortiz won six games with a 3.18 ERA to go with 64 strikeouts in 72.2 innings
• The 32 appearances were easily a team high, and nine more than any other Hornet pitcher
• Her four saves led the Big Sky, and ranked 25th in the nation
• Was nearly untouchable in Big Sky play, going 2-1 with two saves and a 0.36 ERA
• In 19.2 innings in league play, she allowed just one earned run while striking out 22 and yielding a .151 opponent batting average
• Did not allow an earned run in each of her final nine, and 15 of the last 16 appearances
• That included pitching in all three Big Sky Tournament games without allowing an earned run
• Appeared in 13 of the Hornets’ 18 games against a Big Sky opponent, allowing just one earned run over that span
• Each of her final 17 appearances of the season came out of the bullpen

Prior to Sacramento State
• Spent her freshman season (2024) at CSUN of the Big West Conference
• Made 15 appearances (four starts) with the Matadors, posting the team’s second best ERA (2.91)
• In 33.2 innings, she allowed just 33 hits and a .264 opponents batting average
• Tossed a two-hit shutout in a home win over Pacific

High School
• A 2023 graduate of Perry High School in Gilbert, Ariz.
• Played four years of varsity softball
• A four-time all-region selection, including final two seasons on the first team
• As a senior, she was team captain, first team all-region, first team all-conference and a 6A All-Star after going 6-0 with a 3.39 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 122 innings
• Also hit .337 while leading team to a state runner-up finish
• As a junior, she threw the school’s first-ever perfect game vs. Skyline HS, and followed that one day later by hitting a school single-game record three home runs vs. O’Connor HS
