Biography

2023 Season
A second team all-Big Sky Conference selection for the second straight season…a three-time recipient of all-Big Sky accolades - honorable mention in 2021…a team captain…one of three Hornets to start all 47 games, and each of those starts came in right field…finished her career by starting 123 consecutive games in right field dating back to her sophomore season…finished the year tied for second on the Hornets with a .329 batting average (46-for-140)…also had 18 runs, seven doubles, five homers, 10 walks, 30 RBIs, a .486 slugging percentage, .378 on-base percentage and .864 ops…30 RBIs were second most on the team, and tied for fifth in the Big Sky…hit .314 with runners in scoring position…had a nine-game hitting streak, and a seven-game hitting streak during the season…second on the team with six multiple-RBI games, and fourth with nine multiple-hit games…bettered her batting average every year of her career, and finished at .290…her 92 career RBIs are the eighth best mark in program history.

2022 Season
A second team all-Big Sky Conference selection…started all 55 games, and was the only Hornet to start each of those games at the same position (right field)…hit .298 (50-for-168) with 28 runs, 11 doubles, eight homers and 43 RBIs…led the Hornets in both doubles and RBIs while ranking third in homers…also had a .506 slugging percentage and .352 on-base percentage…two-time Big Sky Player of the Week on March 22 and May 9…named to the Big Sky all-tournament team…in the Hornets’ tourney-opening win against Montana, Morfey went 3-for-3 with two runs, two homers and a program-record tying seven RBIs…she hit a pair of three-run homers in that game, and the seven RBIs were the most in Big Sky Tournament single-game history…among Big Sky leaders, her RBIs were second most, and doubles tied for the third most…was clutch all season, hitting .397 (23-for-58) with runners in scoring position, and had a team-high 23 RBIs with two outs in an inning…had a grand slam vs. Southern Utah…compiled 13 multiple-hit games.

2021 Season

An honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference selection…played in 34 games, including 32 starts…that included 24 starts at designated player, six at pitcher, and two at first base…had 22 hits in 92 at-bats, including nine runs scored, five doubles, four homers and 18 RBIs…the 18 RBIs were second most on the team…also had 11 walks and a .324 on-base percentage…starter in all 18 conference games, and hit .321 against Big Sky opposition with four doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs…had a .623 slugging percentage, .403 on-base percentage and 1.027 ops vs. conference teams…had six multiple-hit games during league play, including 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs at Montana…homered in the 8th inning of an eventual 2-1 road win at Montana…made 11 appearances in the circle (five in relief)…threw 22.0 innings with 12 strikeouts.

2020 Season

Played in 10 games, including three starts in a shortened season…made one start at pitcher and two at designated player…had 11 at-bats, and made four appearances in the circle…in her only start at pitcher, she earned a complete game victory against Pacific, allowing seven hits and two runs over seven innings in a 3-2 Hornet win…needed just 88 pitches to earn the win…made relief appearances against UC Santa Barbara, Bradley and UConn.

Prior to Sacramento State

Played her freshman season (2019) at San Jose State…appeared in 27 games, including four starts, as a true freshman for the Spartans…the majority of her appearances came as a pinch runner or pinch hitter…made two starts at first base and two starts at designated player…also had three pitching appearances…limited Southern Illinois to no runs and no hits in 1.2 innings of relief work…finished the year with 18 at-bats and seven runs scored…did not make an error in 23 chances in the field.

High School
A 2018 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, Calif.…played four years for the varsity team…a three-time Stockton Record all-area team member…earned all-area Pitcher of the Year accolades in 2017 as well as being named Tri-City Athletic League Pitcher of the Year…a second-team all-league selection in 2016 and was the league co-MVP in 2015.
 
Personal
Parents are Laura and Marty Morfey…a psychology major who graduated in May of 2023…played club ball for the USA Elite.
