Estel Boix Noguer (They/Them/their)

As a senior (2021):
Granted an extra year of eligibility because of the pandemic which cut the 2020 season short…one of seven Hornets to compete in all four spring races with the varsity eight…all four of those races came in the seven seat…the varsity eight went sub 6:47 in all four competitions…that included a win over Gonzaga at the Dexter Lake Invitational, the first win over the Bulldogs since 2010…competed with the varsity eight in every spring race of her four-year career, an impressive span of 28 consecutive races…an American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection for the fourth straight year…also recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for the fourth straight season.

As a senior (2020):
Competed in the Hornets’ lone spring regatta against Kansas State before the season was cut short…sat in the three seat with the varsity eight that defeated Kansas State by over five seconds…in the fall, sat in the three seat with the varsity eight at the Head of the American, while also racing in a pair at the event…also sat at three with the victorious Collegiate Four at the Head of the Port…an American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection for the third straight year…also recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for the third straight season.

As a junior (2019):
Competed with the varsity eight in each of the boat’s 11 spring races…competed with the top boat in four different seats, including the three (six times), seven (three times), four (once) and five (once) seats…sat at three with the varsity eight wins over Tulsa and Miami at the Lake Natoma Invitational…sat at three during the varsity eight’s 43-second win over UC Davis…an American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection…recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for the second straight season.

As a sophomore (2018):
A second team all-American Athletic Conference selection after competing with the varsity eight in all 12 of the boat’s spring races…named the Hornets’ Most Outstanding Rower…one of five Hornets to compete with the varsity eight in every spring race…sat at stroke with the varsity eight during each of the boat’s first five races before sitting at seven in the final seven races of the year…stroked the varsity eight to a silver medal at the San Diego Crew Classic, the highest finish for the boat at the event since 2009…nominated for Sacramento State Athletics’ Female Newcomer of the Year…recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, recognizing rowing student-athletes that maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average…an American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection.

Prior to Sacramento State: Spent two years at the University of Girona in Catalonia, Spain…selected to compete for Spain at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships in 2017…sat at stroke with the lightweight double…also competed for Spain in four races at the 2015 World Rowing Junior Championships in Brazil…competed for Club Natico Banyoles in Spain.

Personal: Graduated from Sacramento State with a journalism degree in May of 2019, and a master's degree in behavioral sciences gender equity studies in May of 2021.
