Biography

2004 Season: Advanced to the NCAA West Regional as an all-around for the second consecutive season…also defended her MPSF title on vault with a 9.875…recorded season best marks on vault, bars (9.750) and floor (9.900) at the MPSF Championships…scored a season best 9.875 on beam at the West Regional…was a first team all-MPSF selection as an all-arounder and was second team on vault…also earned academic all-MPSF honors…scored over 38.000 in nine of her 12 all-arounds…broked 39.000 twice, including a 39.100 against UC Davis and San Jose State.

2003 Season:
Qualified for the NCAA West Regional as an all-arounder…won the MPSF Championship on vault with a score of 9.775…also set career highs on bars (9.775), floor (9.875) and all-around (39.150) at the MSPF meet…led the team with an all-around average of 38.212…scored at least 9.725 on beam three times.

2002 Season:
Made a major impact on the program after missing the first two weeks of the season due to transcript clearance…shattered the program record of 9.875 on beam with a 9.925 on Feb. 22 at Seattle Pacific…placed first on beam at the MPSF Championships with a score of 9.875…competed as an event specialist on vault at the NCAA West Regional…recorded a season high 9.825 on floor on March 10 against San Jose State…tallied a season best 9.800 on vault on three occasions…competed in the African Championships during the offeseason.

Prior to Sacramento State:
Trained with Gezira Sporting Clyb in Cairo and is a two-time national champion (1998 & 2001)…a veteran of international competition with stops in Namibia, Jordan, South Aftica, Tusisia and Cyprus…in 1998, she finished fourth in the all-around, second on flor and third on beam in her first international competition (Namibia)…also finished first in the all-around, floor, vault and second on bars while competing at the Egyptian National Championships…in 1999, she earned top scores in the all-around, floor and beam while finishing second on bars and vault at the African and Arab Games trials…recorded first place finishes in the all-around, vault, bars and floor while finishing third on beam in the 2001 national championships.

Personal: A kinesiology major…parents are Ashraf Zaher and Nafissa Aref…brother, Sherif, competes for the Sacramento State men's tennis team at No. 1 singles…would like to compete in the 2003 World Championships in Los Angeles and also aspires to qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens…plans to establish first gymnastics academy in Egypt after her career is over.
