2016 Beach Season
One of six Hornets to play all 22 matches during the season…posted a 3-19 record, playing 15 of those matches at the No. 2 spot in the lineup with teammate Morgan Stanley…also played matches at Nos. 3 and 4 in the team’s lineup…partnered with Stanley during the team’s final 15 matches of the season…overall, she played with four different partners, going 2-13 with Stanley, 1-4 with Brigitte Murdock, and 0-1 with both Lexie Skalbeck and Hannah Meadows…a Big West all-academic selection.
2015 Indoor Season
Appeared in 13 matches…averaged 0.40 kills, 0.20 digs and 0.43 points per set…had kills in five different matches, including a pair of kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Cal State Fullerton…her kill against Montana State on match point clinched the Hornets’ home victory over the Bobcats…during her four seasons, she accounted for 236 points…averaged 1.36 kills and 1.61 points pet set during her career, and appeared in 78 career matches and 147 sets…never missed a practice during her entire career.
2015 Beach Season
Posted a 4-9 doubles record during her third season of sand volleyball…that record came with three different partners, including 2-6 at No. 4 with Lauren Kissell, 1-2 at No. 3 with Kennedy Kurtz, and 1-1 at No. 4 with Hannah Meadows…the win at No. 3 with Kurtz came in straight sets against San Francisco…the victory with Meadows came against San Jose State, including a 16-14 score in the third set…the wins with Kissell came against San Jose State and Saint Mary’s.
2014 Indoor Season
Played in 26 matches, including 56 sets and three starts…averaged 1.48 kills, 0.62 digs, 0.38 blocks and 1.80 points per set…had a career-high 13 kills in the Hornets’ four-set win over Bakersfield…also had a career-high tying three blocks in that victory…had 10 kills in 23 attempts and a .304 hitting percentage at Nevada…posted nine kills, five digs, three blocks and a career-high tying three aces in a five-set win against San Jose State…had a stretch of six straight matches with at least five kills (Sept. 9-19).
2014 Beach Season
Posted a 1-5 record at No. 2 with Sloan Lovett, and a 1-5 mark at No. 3 with Chelcy Motes…her win with Motes came against San Jose State in a 21-16, 21-23, 20-18 victory…win with Lovett came against San Francisco’s Jurja Vlasic and Malina Terrell, 26-24, 21-14.
2013 Indoor Season
Appeared in 23 matches, 45 sets and had four starts…of those four starts, three came at rightside hitter and one at outside hitter…averaged 1.58 kills and 0.40 digs per set…had a season-best 11 kills to go with a .269 hitting percentage at Boise State…had eight kills, five digs and a season-best .364 hitting percentage against Cal Poly…also had nine kills vs. North Texas…accounted for a season-high 11.0 points at Boise State.
2013 Beach Season
Played in all eight matches during the program’s inaugural sand season with partner Sloan Lovett…the tandem played at the No. 4 spot in the team’s lineup all year, and finished with a 3-5 record…the three victories for Lovett/Aikels came against Cal, Pacific and San Francisco…the pair won two of their final three matches of the season.
2012 Indoor Season
Appeared in 16 matches, including three starts and 31 sets played during her freshman season…finished with season averages of 1.29 kills, 0.58 digs, 0.32 blocks and 1.69 points per set…posted a season-high 12 kills vs. Portland State, and season-best six digs against Eastern Washington…during that win over Eastern Washington, she also had eight kills, three aces, a solo block and a season-high .467 hitting percentage…had eight kills, two aces and two blocks against Southern Utah.
High School
A 2012 graduate of Westview High School in San Diego…was a starter on the varsity volleyball team her entire high school career…was a three-time all-Palomar League selection (first team as a senior, honorable mention as a freshman and junior)…as a senior, she was also named first team all-section, first team all-county and the team MVP…as a freshman, she was recognized as Frosh 59 honorable mention by PrepVolleyball.com, which honors the top freshmen in the nation…started her freshman year as a middle blocker, sat out her sophomore season with a knee injury, and started at outside hitter her final two seasons…during her four years, the Wolverines combined for a 70-45 overall record and 26-14 league mark…as a senior (2011), she helped lead Westview to its second consecutive CIF San Diego Southern Section semifinal appearance…her senior season saw Aikels, who was the team captain, lead the team in kills by a large margin while also finishing second to the team’s libero in digs…in a 3-2 victory over Valley Center High School during her senior season, she finished with 26 kills, 21 digs and two aces…led the team in kills each of her final two years.
Personal
Parents are Vincent and Marilou Aikels…a kinesiology major…played four years for the Coast Volleyball Club of San Diego, where a number of her teammates signed Div. I scholarships…played travel softball for two years for the San Diego Renegades.
