Aaron Braun is the neweset member of the Sacramento State Track & Field/Cross Country coaching staff, joining the program in November of 2018. Braun will coach the Hornet distance runners as well as oversee the cross country teams.

At Sacramento State
2021 Season
- Coached Sarah Collier to a third-place finish in the 800 at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
- Cagnei Duncan ran 17:00.70 to win the Causeway Track Classic and rank seventh in school history in the 5K.
- Team did not compete during the indoor season due to COVID-19.
2020 Season
- Saw Cagnei Duncan move into 10th place in school history in the indoor 3K with a time of 4:59.70.
- Outdoor season was canceled due to COVID-19.
2019 Season
- Helped guide the Hornet women to the Big Sky indoor and outdoor team titles.
- Mentored Amy Quinones who finished second in the mile at the Big Sky Indoor Championships.
- She ran a time of 4:51.87 which ranked third in school history.
- Quinones also cracked the school top 10 in the 3K wiht a time of 10:08.96.
- During the outdoor season, Quinones posted the fourth-best time in school history in the 1500 (4:23.99) and the fifth-fastest in the 800 (2:08.54.)
- Also had Amelia Pear move into 10th place in the 10K (37:31.99) and Rachel Victor run 11:09.81 in the steeplechase to ran ninth all-time at Sacramento State.
Prior to Sacramento State
Northern Arizona (2016-18)
- The Lumberjack men won the NCAA Div. I Cross Country Championship during all three seasons — becoming the first program to go back-to-back-to-back since Arkansas in 1998-2000.
Adams State (2014-16)
- Was a volunteer at his alma mater.
- Part of his responsibilities included implementing daily training for distance group, motivating student-athletes, talent identification and organization of recruiting efforts for multiple event groups, creating itineraries for team travel and official visits, and other various administrative duties.
Athletic Accomplishments
- Had an illustrious Adams State career where he led the team to three national titles (one indoor, two cross country) and is a member of the Adams State athletic hall of fame.
- Was a 16-time NCAA Div. II All-American and was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2009.
- Went on to win NCAA Div. II individual titles for the indoor mile (2009 & 2010) and had three runner-up performances at NCAA Div. II Championship meets.
- As a cross country runner, he finished second at both the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Div. II National Championships.
- Is the school record holder in the indoor 3K and the indoor and outdoor 5K and is also a member of the school record holding distance medley relay team.
- Braun continued to run after his collegiate career where he was fifth in the 10K at the 2012 US Olympic Trials and had the second best finish by an American at the 2018 Chicago Marathon where he ran 2:12.54 (5:04 average per mile).
Personal
- Graduated with a degree bachelor's degree in mathematics from Adams State in 2009 and added a master's in exercise science in 2011.
- Braun has also received his USTFCCCA TFTC certification.
- Lves in the Sacramento area with his wife, Annika, and daughters Makenzie and Myla.
