Celieangelys Quintero Casanova, MS, ATC

Celieangelys Quintero Casanova joined the Sacramento State Sports Medicine staff as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer. In this role, she serves as the head women’s basketball and women’s golf athletic trainer for the Hornets.

Prior to her arrival at Sacramento State, Quintero Casanova spent two seasons as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lafayette College, working with women’s basketball, cross country, and track and field. She also served as the organizer of Spotting Success: Innovating, Educating, and Empowering Our Community. In addition, she was a proud member of the Patriot League's Diverse Talent Pathway program under the mentorship of Tricia Brandenberg.

During the summer of 2022, Quintero Casanova was a Head Athletic Trainer for Puerto Rico’s Women’s Basketball National Team. She attended the 2022 FIBA World Cup Championship held in Sydney, Australia. Quintero Casanova’s first stint as a certified athletic trainer came in 2021, when she spent two years at Cedar Crest College. She was responsible for direct coverage of women’s basketball, softball, and volleyball, including home games, postseason competitions, and the NCAA Tournament. During her time at Cedar Crest, she contributed to back-to-back CSAC conference championships with the volleyball program.

Quintero Casanova holds multiple professional certifications, including Advanced Rehab, Myofascial Decompression Cup Therapy, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, Adaptive and Inclusive Trainer, and Biomechanics and Human Movement.

A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Quintero Casanova earned her bachelor’s degree in adapted and elementary physical education from the University of Puerto Rico–Bayamón in 2019, followed by a master’s degree in Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University in 2021.
