2012 Season
Made 21 appearances in the circle, including 16 starts, nine complete games and three shutouts…the three shutouts were a team high…went 7-5 with a 3.73 ERA…tossed 97.2 innings…threw a nine-inning shutout of Idaho State, a three-hit shutout against Santa Clara, and a seven-hit shutout of Delaware…threw over 100 pitches in nine of her 16 starts…allowed opponents just a .252 batting average with two outs in an inning…among Sacramento State Div. I-era career leaders (1990-pres.), she finished her career ranked fifth in appearances (94), sixth in strikeouts (262), seventh in wins (31), tied for seventh in complete games (38), eighth in innings pitched (407.1), tied for ninth in shutouts (9) and tied for 10th in starts (53).
2011 Season
An honorable mention all-PCSC Coastal Division selection after going 5-4 with two saves and a 2.78 ERA…that included a 5-2 mark and a 2.79 ERA against PCSC competition…missed nine games during the middle of the season with a concussion…opponents hit just .250 off Voelz and she struck out 49 batters in 60.1 innings…the majority of her appearances came in relief as she had 19 appearances, including five starts, two complete games and was part of a combined no-hitter with Megan Schaefer against Saint Mary’s…allowed three earned runs or less in all but one of her appearances…right-handers hit just .200 (34-for-170) off Voelz…in her final five appearances of the season, she went 4-0 with a save, a 1.97 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.
2010 Season
A first team all-PCSC Coastal Division selection after finishing 11-16 with a 2.98 ERA…improved those numbers to 6-3 with a 1.58 ERA against conference competition…led the Hornets’ pitching staff in wins (11), appearances (30), starts (23), complete games (20), shutouts (5), innings (164.1), strikeouts (118) and opponents batting average (.256)…threw shutouts against UC Riverside, San Diego (twice), Cal State Bakersfield and Loyola Marymount…the shutout against UC Riverside was a one-hitter where she tossed 6.1 innings of no-hit ball until giving up a hit in the seventh inning…named PCSC Pitcher of the Week on two occasions (Feb. 23, April 21)…won her final three, and seven of her last 10 decisions of the season…allowed just six home runs, or one every 27.1 innings pitched…PCSC opponents hit just .224 off Voelz, and four of her nine starts against conference teams resulted in shutouts…had a career-high scoreless inning streak of 19, which spanned four appearances from April 10-24.
2009 Season
Went 8-8 with a 3.62 ERA in her freshman season…had 24 appearances, nine starts, seven complete games and one shutout…tossed 85.0 innings and struck out 49 batters…was 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA against conference competition…tossed a three-hit shutout with no walks and six strikeouts against Loyola Marymount on April 25…15 of her appearances came in relief…picked up her first collegiate win after tossing four innings of shutout relief in the team’s 5-4 victory over Causeway rival UC Davis on March 11…named PCSC Pitcher of the Week on March 17.
High School
A 2008 graduate of Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Wash…played four years of both varsity softball and volleyball…in softball, she was a four-time all-Greater St. Helens League selection, including all-region during both her junior and senior seasons…as a senior, she was named the league MVP after going 13-4 with a 0.79 ERA, including 192 strikeouts with just 25 walks…as a junior, she tallied 284 strikeouts in 191 innings…that included a no-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Camas High School…helped lead the team to a co-district championship in 2007…in volleyball, Voelz was a second team all-league choice during her senior season…named to the school’s honor roll during her final two years.
Personal
Parents are Dale and Janet Voelz…a communication studies who is on pace to graduate in the fall of 2012…spent 12 years playing club softball for the Washington Bulldogs in Vancouver, Wash…helped lead the 16-under gold team to state championships in both 2004 and 2005.
