Biography

2018 Season
A second team all-Big Sky Conference selection after starting all 51 games…started the first six games in center field before starting the final 45 games at third base…hit .234 overall, but raised that average to .278 in Big Sky play…was named to the all-tournament team at the Big Sky Tournament…in seven opportunities with a runner at third base and less than two outs, she drove in the run five times…that 71 percent success rate in those opportunities was the best mark on the team…had a six-game hitting streak from March 24-April 7…committed just six errors at third base…started at least 43 games three times during her four seasons at Sacramento State, and played in 155 career games (144 starts)…started games at five different positions during her career, including third base, shortstop and all three outfield spots.

2017 Season
Appeared in 46 of a possible 50 games…started 43 games, including 33 starts in right field, and five times at both third base and left field…hit .257 (29-for-113) with 19 runs scored, two homers, 10 RBIs and a pair of stolen bases…committed just two errors in 60 total chances, good for a .967 fielding percentage…hit .310 with runners in scoring position…also hit .294 in Big Sky play…finished the season on a four-game hitting streak, combining to bat 5-for-11 during that span with four runs, a homer and six RBIs…hit safely in seven of her final eight, and 10 of the last 14 games of the season…cranked a three-run homer in the Hornets’ 4-2 victory at Portland State in the team’s regular season finale…her 19 runs scored were tied for fourth most on the team…scored a run in her lone pinch running appearance.

2016 Season
Played in 10 games, including seven starts…four of those starts came at third base, and three at shortstop…in 16 at-bats, Maligad had two hits, an RBI and scored a run…her hits came against UC Riverside and Saint Mary’s…made one appearance as a pinch runner.

2015 Season
Played in 48 games, including 43 starts (31 starts at third base, 12 at shortstop)…hit .229 (27-for-118) during her true freshman season with 17 runs, four doubles, 13 RBIs and a .300 on-base percentage…had a five-game hitting streak from March 20-28 in which she was 8-for-16 with a double, triple and three RBIs…committed just one error during her final 16 games of the season…started 43 of the final 47 games of the season…raised her batting average to .246 in Big Sky play…batted .317 (13-for-41) with runners in scoring position…the Hornets went 18-13 when Maligad started games at third base.

High School

A 2014 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, Calif…played four years of varsity softball for the Eagles…during her four seasons, she helped Pleasant Grove to an 83-41-1 overall record, a 29-11 mark in league, back-to-back appearances in the championship game of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section in 2013 and 2014, and a league title in 2013…she was a four-time all-Delta River League selection, including first team during her junior and senior seasons, and second team as a freshman and sophomore…as a senior, she hit .344 with 26 runs scored, 12 doubles, three triples, a home run, 22 RBIs and a .923 ops in 36 games played…after batting .254 as a freshman, Maligad hit better than .330 each of her final three seasons…finished her career with a .332 batting average (122-368) with 85 runs, 21 doubles, nine triples, 42 RBIs, 48 walks and a .411 on-base percentage in 117 games played…struck out just 30 times in 425 plate appearances…named first team all-city each of her final two seasons with the team…as a junior, she hit .374 with 25 runs, four doubles and five triples.

Personal
Parents are Romeo and Cynthia…a communication studies major who graduated from Sacramento State in May of 2018…high school teammates all four years with Celina Matthias…played ASA ball for the Lady Magic of Elk Grove, and was teammates on that squad with Matthias and Zamari Hinton.
