2020 Season
Made 11 appearances in a shortened season, including four starts…in 29.0 innings, Sperry was 2-2 with a 4.10 ERA…allowed just six extra base hits all year…allowed two earned runs or less in 10 of her 11 appearances…earned wins against Saint Mary’s and Delaware…threw four innings of shutout ball in the win over Saint Mary’s…opponents hit just .250 against Sperry with runners in scoring position…now has an 18-13 career record in 232.2 innings pitched…over her last three seasons, she has a 14-7 record.
2019 Season
Finished the season 8-4 with a 3.75 ERA…spent the majority of the season as the team’s No. 2 starter…in 23 appearances, she had 16 starts, four complete games and was part of a combined shutout…threw 87.2 innings, striking out 40 batters…won each of her first five decisions of the season…earned a complete-game win at 24th-ranked Stanford, allowing just two runs and nine hits over seven innings in a 5-2 Hornet win…allowed one hit and no runs over five innings in an eventual 1-0 nine-inning win over Fairleigh Dickinson…allowed just four home runs in 87.2 innings pitched.
2018 Season
Had 12 appearances, four starts and two complete games in the circle for the Hornets…pitched in 29.0 innings…went 4-1 with a 6.52 ERA…picked up wins against Howard, New Mexico, Santa Clara and Northern Colorado…allowed just one hit and three runs in a complete-game win over Howard…allowed two hits and two earned runs over seven innings in a 6-3 victory over Santa Clara.
2017 Season
Made 25 appearances in the circle as a true freshman, including five starts, one complete game and 87.0 innings pitched…went 4-6 with a 3.30 ERA and five saves…struck out 39 batters in those 87.0 innings…the five saves are tied for the third best single-season mark in Sacramento State’s Div. I era (1990-pres.)…the 3.30 ERA was the second best mark on the team…of her 25 appearances, she allowed three earned runs or less in 20 of those outings…picked up wins against Boise State, Loyola Marymount, North Dakota and Southern Utah…walked just 19 batters in 87 innings…worked at least two innings in 19 of her 20 relief appearances…in Big Sky play, she was 2-2 with a 3.33 ERA and three saves.
High School
A 2016 graduate of Ripon High School in Ripon, Calif…played four years of varsity softball, and one year of volleyball…helped Ripon softball to a four-year combined record of 84-26-3 overall and 39-7 in the Trans Valley League…as a senior in 2016, she helped lead the Indians to their first Sac-Joaquin Section championship in school history…in addition, that team finished 10th in the state in the final Div. IV state poll…as a junior, she helped the team to its first-ever appearance in the Sac-Joaquin Section finals…the Indians won league titles in 2016 and 2014, and finished second in 2015 and 2013…for her career, she is a two-time MaxPreps all-state (small schools), two-time Cal Hi Sports second team all-state, three-time Trans Valley League Pitcher of the Year, three-time Manteca Bulletin Pitcher of the Year and four-time first team all-league selection…for her career, she finished 54-18 with a 1.53 ERA to go along with 85 appearances, 76 starts, 61 complete games and 12 shutouts…in 472.1 career innings, she struck out 464 batters and allowed just seven home runs…as a senior, she was 16-3 with a 1.24 ERA and led the league in wins, ERA and strikeouts (139)…as a junior, she was 21-5 with a 0.92 ERA and 173 strikeouts in 160.1 innings.
Personal
A communication studies major who is on pace to graudate in the spring of 2020…parents are Thomas and Kimberly Sperry…played club ball for the All American Sports Academy of Woodland…eight of her teammates are playing for Div. I programs, including four in the Pac-12 Conference.
