2015 Season
Named second team all-Pacific Region, Big Sky Pitcher of the Year and first team all-conference while also being named the conference pitcher of the week on three occasions…also a second team all-region selection last year, Brooks became the fourth player in Hornet Div. I history (1990-pres.), and second pitcher, to receive all-region accolades on more than one occasion…became the first Hornet to garner first team all-league honors three consecutive years since Jamie Schloredt did it four straight years in the PCSC from 2006-09…also became the first Hornet during the Div. I era to be named conference pitcher of the year on more than one occasion…during her career, she was named Big Sky Pitcher of the Week on 12 occasions, setting the conference record…also named to the Big Sky’s all-tournament team…finished the season with a 15-7 record and a 2.99 ERA…in 27 appearances (26 starts), the right-hander compiled 17 complete games, four shutouts and 177 strikeouts over 142.2 innings…opponents hit .205 when Brooks was in the circle, and she allowed just 105 hits in those 142.2 innings…her average of 8.7 strikeouts per seven innings ranked as the 27th best mark in the nation while she also allowed just 5.15 hits per seven innings…in Big Sky play, she was 9-2 with a 2.18 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .199 batting average…excluding two tough-luck losses to Idaho State in which she threw well, Brooks was 9-0 in Big Sky play…Brooks will leave Sacramento State as one of the program’s most decorated pitchers…among Hornet Div. I career leaders, she ranks third in wins (45), strikeouts (494), opponents batting average (.207) and strikeouts per seven innings (7.23), fourth in starts (84), fifth in shutouts (15), sixth in innings pitched (478.0), seventh in complete games (51) and tied for seventh in appearances (89)…finished her career 45-26 with a 2.64 ERA, including 494 strikeouts in 478.0 innings pitched…had an ERA below 3.00 each of her final three seasons with the program and opponents hit just .207 off Brooks during her career.
2014 Season
Named the Sacramento State Female Student-Athlete of the Year, second team all-Pacific Region, the Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Year, unanimous first team all-Big Sky as well as a Big Sky all-tournament selection…became the 11th Sacramento State softball player to receive all-region honors since the Hornets joined the Div. I ranks in 1990, and first since Marissa Navarro was named second team all-region in 2012…a four-time Big Sky Pitcher of the Week selection, Brooks finished the season with a 10-7 record and a 1.86 ERA…opponents hit just .219 when she was in the circle…in 17 starts, Brooks had 14 complete games, three shutouts and struck out 109 batters in 105.1 innings…allowed three earned runs or less in all but two of her starts, and took no-hitters into at least the fifth inning of three of her final six starts of the year…ranked as one of the top five pitchers in the Big Sky in 12 different categories, including first in ERA and second in opponents batting average…the 1.86 ERA was the 43rd best mark in the nation, and her average of 7.2 strikeouts per seven innings was the nation’s 65th best mark…also allowed just 5.58 hits per seven innings, the 84th best mark in the nation…in Big Sky play, she went 5-1 with a league-best 1.62 ERA and a .204 opponents batting average…that included a 4.5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio against the league (45 strikeouts and 10 walks in 39.0 innings)…despite missing nearly a month during the middle of the season due to injury, she still led the Hornet pitching staff in wins, ERA, starts, complete games, shutouts, innings, strikeouts and opponents batting average.
2013 Season
A first team all-Big Sky Conference selection after going 14-7 with a 1.81 ERA…led the Hornets in virtually every statistical pitching category, making 24 starts while compiling 17 complete games and eight shutouts…accounted for all but eight of Sacramento State’s wins…finished 11th in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings (4.17) and 50th in ERA (1.81)…limited opponents to a miniscule .166 batting average, and had a 3.8-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (151 strikeouts, 40 walks)…in 151.0 innings, she allowed just 90 hits…named the Big Sky Pitcher of the Week on five occasions…her eight shutouts rank as the 10th best single-season mark in Sacramento State’s Div. I history…the 14 wins ties her for the 12th best mark in the program’s Div. I era…against Big Sky competition, she went 6-2 with a 1.63 ERA while opponents hit .157…left-handers hit just .121 off Brooks, while right-handers hit .182…among her eight shutouts were a one-hitter against Weber State, two-hitters against Fresno State, Cal Poly, Idaho State, Portland State, Southern Utah and Weber State, and a three-hitter against Northern Colorado…allowed fifth-ranked Cal just one run and two hits while striking out 10 batters over seven innings in the Hornets’ 1-0 loss…a record crowd of 1,212 attended that game…struck out at least 10 batters five times, including a career-best 12 at home against Idaho State.
2012 Season
Made 21 appearances in the circle during her freshman season, including a team-best 17 starts…went 6-5 with a 4.61 ERA…threw 79.0 innings while allowing 81 hits with 57 strikeouts…opponents hit .270 off Brooks, and she allowed just four home runs all season (one per 19.2 innings pitched)…had three complete games, and was part of two combined shutouts…one of those complete games was a five-hitter in which she allowed one unearned run in a 2-1 victory against UC Santa Barbara…also allowed just four hits and struck out a season-best eight batters in a 2-1 win over Santa Clara…other complete game effort came against Idaho State.
High School
A 2011 graduate of Escalon High School in Escalon, Calif…competed in three years of varsity softball for the Cougars…despite not playing her senior season because of a foot injury, Brooks was a two-time second team all-state choice, three-time Trans Valley League MVP and three-time all-district selection while also being named The Modesto Bee Player of the Year on two occasions and The Stockton Record Player of the Year once…as a junior in 2010, she went 26-2 with a 0.11 ERA which included 12 no-hitters, 20 shutouts and 390 strikeouts over 196 innings…the strikeouts were the top mark in California and the fourth-best mark in the nation…opponents hit just .057 off Brooks, and she struck out 15 or more batters on 11 occasions…led Escalon to back-to-back Div. V Sac-Joaquin Section championships (2009-10) and three consecutive league titles (2008-10)…during her three active years with the squad, Brooks went 67-12 (52-5 over the last two years) with a 0.34 ERA, 929 strikeouts, 116 walks, 46 shutouts and an 8.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio…that includes allowing just two home runs in 519 career innings pitched.
Personal
Parents are Art and Terry Brooks…a kinesiology major who graduated in the fall of 2015…was a member of the California Grapettes Gold ASA travel team (Lodi, Calif.) in the summer of 2011…played on that squad with Hornet teammate Nicole Clark.
