Biography

2020 Season
Battled injury throughout the spring season…played in eight dual singles matches…played at Nos. 3 and 4 in the singles lineup…had a win at No. 3 vs. Eastern Washington (6-3, 6-3), and at No. 4 at Idaho State (2-6, 6-3, 7-6)…also played in 10 dual doubles matches, posting wins with Hermont Legaspi against Eastern Washington, Weber State and New Mexico State…played at all three positions in the doubles lineup, primarily at No. 1 where he was 2-3…finished career with a 20-11 dual doubles record against Big Sky competition…a Big Sky all-academic selection for the fourth straight year…also an ITA Scholar-Athlete selection for the fourth straight season.

2019 Season
Named first team all-Big Sky Conference in doubles play with teammate Mikus Losbergs after the duo went 11-4, all at the No. 1 spot of the lineup…that included an 8-2 record against Big Sky opposition…won five of their last six matches of the season, including a 6-2 victory in the Big Sky Tournament against Idaho State…in singles, Chabut played at the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots of the lineup…that includes nine matches at the No. 3 spot, and eight matches at No. 5…was 7-14 in dual matches, including 4-6 vs. conference competition…posted a 5-3 mark at No. 5…won three of his final four singles matches of the year…a Big Sky all-academic selection…an ITA Scholar-Athlete selection.

2018 Season
Played at No. 5 or 6 in the team’s lineup in 20 of the Hornets’ 21 spring matches…that included 12 matches at No. 5, and eight matches at No. 6…finished the year with a 9-11 dual singles record, including 5-7 at No. 5 and 4-4 at No. 6…went 6-5 against Big Sky Conference opposition…won five of his last eight singles matches of the year…with Hornets and rival UC Davis tied at 3-3, Chabut provided the match clinching win with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 5…went 8-6 in doubles play, all at No. 3 with teammate Hermont Legaspi…the tandem was 6-3 against conference opposition…that included a five-match winning streak from March 23-April 7…a Big Sky All-Academic selection…recipient of the ITA Scholar-Athlete award for the second straight season.

2017 Season

Played in all 25 matches in the team’s singles lineup as a true freshman, primarily at No. 4…also played in 19 doubles matches…one of his singles matches went unfinished and three doubles matches were unfinished…went 9-14 in dual singles play, including a 6-5 mark in Big Sky matches…that included an 8-12 mark at No. 4 in the lineup, and 1-2 at No. 5…five of his singles wins came in straight sets, and four came in three sets…posted a 6-10 record in doubles play, including a 5-5 mark in conference…went 3-3 with partner Hermont Legaspi, 2-5 with Christopher Clayton and 1-2 with Donald Hall…a Big Sky all-academic selection…recipient of the ITA Scholar-Athlete award.
