Biography

2016 Season
Posted an 11-14 dual singles record during his fifth-year senior season…that included an 8-3 record in Big Sky play…did not miss a singles match all spring…played at three different spots in the singles lineup, including 2-7 at No. 2, 8-7 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 4…won his match at No. 3 in straight sets over Montana’s Yannick Schmidl in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinals…won 11 of his final 18 singles matches of the season…posted a 2-5 record in dual doubles play, including 0-1 at both No. 1 and No. 2, and 2-3 at No. 3…played doubles with five different partners during the year, which included a 2-1 record with teammate Uli Vollath…finished his career with a 32-25 dual singles record, including an 11-9 record at No. 3, 7-3 at No. 4, and 9-1 at No. 6.

2015 Season
Was a team-high 10-3 in dual singles play, finishing the season on a six-match winning streak…that included a 1-0 record at No. 3, 1-1 at No. 4, 2-2 at No. 5, and 6-0 at No. 6…also went 7-1 in Big Sky Conference matches…of those seven victories in conference play, five came in straight sets…won his match at No. 5 over Saint Mary’s Matthew Campana in three sets (9-7 in the third set tiebreaker) to clinch a 4-3 win over the Gaels on April 1…named Big Sky Player of the Week on April 7 after going 3-0 during the week, including wins over opponents from Saint Mary’s, Northern Arizona and Idaho State…Marquez was 5-0 in matches that went to three sets…was 2-9 in doubles play, including 2-7 at No. 2 and 0-2 at No. 3.

2014 Season

Played 19 dual singles matches, and responded with an 11-8 record…that included a 7-3 record in conference matches…played at four different singles positions in the lineup, going 2-2 at No. 3, 5-2 at No. 4, 1-3 at No. 5, and 3-1 at No. 6…won five of his final seven matches of the season, including an epic tiebreaker victory in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinals against Montana State’s Diego Campos at No. 4 by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4)…in that match, with the score tied at 3-3, Marquez was trailing in the third set by a 6-5 score before forcing a tiebreaker in which he led the entire way to advance the Hornets to the semifinals of the tournament…posted a 6-8 dual doubles record, including a 4-5 record in conference matches.

2013 Season

Practiced with the team, but did not play in any singles or doubles matches.

2012 Season
Took a redshirt and did not play during the spring season.
