Biography

2017 Season
Played in 23 of the team’s 25 matches in the singles lineup (two of those matches went unfinished)…posted a 12-9 dual record in singles play, primarily at No. 5…also posted an 8-2 record in conference play…overall, he was 0-3 at No. 4, 9-4 at No. 5, and 3-2 at No. 6…named Big Sky Player of the Week on Jan. 25…won each of his last five singles matches of the season…despite being a junior, this will be Clayton’s last season with the team as he graduates in the fall of 2017…played doubles in all 25 matches (two went unfinished)…posted an 8-15 doubles record with four different partners…that included a 6-5 record in conference play…finished his career with a 28-20 dual singles record…that includes a 2-6 mark at No. 4, 19-10 at No. 5, and 7-4 at No. 6…also finished career with a 13-4 singles record against conference opposition…in doubles play, he was 27-28, including a 24-20 mark at No. 3…went 11-7 against conference competition…a Big Sky all-academic selection for the third time.

2016 Season
Finished the season with a 9-7 dual singles record and a 10-8 doubles record…missed three matches late in the regular season with injury…in singles play, he posted a 2-1 record at No. 4 and 7-6 at No. 5…among his nine singles wins, eight came in straight sets…posted a 5-2 singles record in Big Sky play…prior to the injury, he had won six consecutive singles matches…in doubles play, he was 10-7 with teammate Uli Vollath at No. 3…that included a 5-1 mark in Big Sky play and an 8-2 record over the pair’s final 10 matches…went 0-1 at No. 3 with teammate Joaquin Marquez…named the Big Sky Player of the Week on March 23…a Big Sky All-Academic selection for the second straight year.

2015 Season
In his first active season with the program, Clayton finished with an 8-4 dual singles record…that included an 0-2 mark at No. 4, 4-0 at No. 5, and 4-2 at No. 6…played in singles and/or doubles in 17 of the team’s final 18 matches of the season…won his match at No. 6 over Montana State’s Dylan Harvala in the Big Sky Tournament by a 6-2, 6-2 score…won four of his final five singles matches of the season, three of which came in straight sets…had a perfect 5-0 record in Big Sky matches…posted a 9-7 doubles record, including 0-1 at No. 2 and 9-6 at No. 3…all nine of those wins in doubles play came with teammate Kasparas Zemaitelis…was 6-4 in doubles play in conference matches…a Big Sky All-Academic selection.

2014 Season
Took a redshirt during his first year with the program.
