2017 Season
The only Hornet to start all 50 games during the season…each of those 50 starts came in center field…a team tri-captain…batted .245 (35-for-143) with 16 runs scored, 14 RBIs, 15 walks, three stolen bases and a .321 on-base percentage…had seven multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI games…in conference play, she hit .298 (17-for-57) with a .369 on-base percentage…did not commit an error in 20 league games…over her final four games (three of which came at the Big Sky Tournament), she went a combined 7-for-14 with five runs scored and a pair of RBIs…a fixture in center field who made an abundance of diving catches during her four seasons, she started 100 consecutive games in center field over her final two year…overall, Johnston played in 174 career games, including 163 starts…in Sacramento State’s Div. I era (1990-pres.), her 20 career stolen bases rank tied for seventh…a Big Sky all-academic selection for the second straight year.
2016 Season
The only player on the team to start all 50 games during the season…each of those 50 starts came in center field…batted .289 (43-for-149) with 24 runs scored, seven doubles, 12 RBIs, six sacrifices and nine stolen bases…went 9-for-10 in stolen base opportunities…made numerous diving catches in center field during the season…a Big Sky Championship all-tournament selection after hitting .636 (7-for-11) with four runs scored and two RBIs over four games…had 11 multiple-hit games during the season, including a pair of 3-hit games during the postseason tournament…over the final 14 games of the season, Johnston hit a team-best .450 (18-for-40) with 10 runs scored and three stolen bases…a Big Sky All-Academic selection.
2015 Season
An honorable mention all-Big Sky selection…played in 49 games, including 45 starts (34 starts in center field, 11 at designated player)…each of her final 11 starts of the season came at designated player…finished the season with a .259 batting average (37-for-143), including 22 runs scored, seven doubles, one home run, 21 RBIs and a .321 on-base percentage…also had a team-high eight stolen bases in nine attempts…committed just one error in 48 total chances in the outfield…struck out just once every 23.8 at-bats, the 29th best mark in the nation…hit .297 with runners in scoring position…had 11 multiple-hit games and five multiple-RBI games…raised her batting average to .270 in Big Sky play with a .347 on-base percentage…scored during both of her pinch running appearances…raised her batting average 84 percentage points from her freshman season (.175) to her sophomore year (.259).
2014 Season
Appeared in 25 games as a true freshman, including 18 starts…all 18 of those starts came in center field…hit .175 (11-for-63) with six runs, two doubles, a homer, six RBIs and four walks…had an RBI in five consecutive games from Feb. 23-March 7…had six RBIs during that five-game stretch, including a game against Boise State in which she went 2-for-3 with a run, double and two RBIs…lone home run of the season came at Saint Mary’s.
High School
A 2013 graduate of Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Wash…played four years of varsity softball for the Vikings…was the starter in center field each of her final three seasons, and started in left field as a freshman…a four-time 4A KingCo all-conference selection, she was named to the first team during both her junior and senior seasons, and second team her first two years…for her career, she hit .461 (141-306) with 30 doubles, 41 stolen bases, 10 home runs, 74 RBIs and a .683 slugging percentage…struck out just 22 times in 306 career at-bats (once every 14 ab) and was 41-for-43 in stolen base opportunities…hit .603 (47-78) as a senior which set the Inglemoor single-season school record…is the school’s career record holder in batting average, doubles, runs (106) and at-bats…was the team MVP each of her final two seasons, including for the 2012 Inglemoor squad that reached the Class 4A state tournament…also helped the Vikings to a conference championship and third-place finish in the state tournament in 2010.
Personal
Parents are Thomas and Teresa…a business major who will graduate in the fall of 2017…played for Puyallup’s Washington LadyHawks three straight years (2011-13)…brother, Sam Johnston, played baseball at the College of Idaho.
