Biography

2015 Season
An honorable mention all-Big Sky selection for the second straight year…played in 46 games, which included 42 starts at shortstop and one at second base…was limited during the season with a series of injuries…she hit .254 (31-for-122) with nine doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs, nine sacrifices and a .319 on-base percentage…the nine sacrifices were second most on the Hornets…had a six-game hitting streak from Feb. 6-14…in her at-bats with two outs, she hit .350 (14-for-40)…in two seasons, Castro finished her Sacramento State career with a .300 batting average…among Sacramento State’s Div. I career leaders (1990-pres.), Castro is tied for fifth in triples (7) and tied for 17th in batting average.

2014 Season

An honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference selection after starting all 46 games…one of just three Hornets to start every game of the season…started 40 games at shortstop and six games at second base…hit .341 (the third best mark on the team) with 24 runs scored, three doubles, five triples and 13 RBIs…her 12 multiple-hit games were the best mark on the team…five triples were among the nation’s leaders, and average of 0.11 triples per game was tied for the 12th best mark in the nation…named to the Big Sky all-tournament team after batting .500 (5-for-10) with two runs, a triple and a sacrifice during the postseason event…had a seven-game hitting streak from March 22-April 8…in Big Sky play, she hit .352, and her 12 runs scored against league opposition were the second best mark on the team…hit a team-high .444 (4-for-9) with the bases loaded.

Prior to Sacramento State

Played the 2011 and 2012 seasons at Fairleigh Dickinson…redshirted the 2013 season while at Sacramento State…started 84 games at shortstop during her two seasons at Fairleigh Dickinson…hit a combined .255 during her two-year stay with the Knights, including a .299 batting average her freshman season…the Knights combined for a 56-42 overall record during her two seasons.

High School
A 2010 graduate of Franklin High School in Elk Grove…played four years of varsity softball for the Wildcats…a first team all-Delta Valley Conference selection three straight years from 2008-10…also named all-city in 2010…member of the Delta Valley Conference championship winning teams in 2007 and 2008…a career .371 hitter in high school, she also posted a .446 on-base percentage and .967 fielding percentage as a middle infielder…recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award all four years of high school.

Personal
Parents are Dave and Lena…a photography major who graduated in the spring of 2015…played for Victory Gold USA and Mizuno All-American Gold teams.
