2021 Season
Played in 34 games, including 19 starts…17 of those starts came at second base, two at designated player…was a member of the Hornets’ leadership team…entered game as a pinch runner a team-high 11 times, scoring on four of those occasions…in 57 at-bats, Vretzos had 10 RBIs, or one RBI every 5.7 at-bats…the RBIs were fourth most on the team…in a win at Southern Utah, she was 2-for-4 with two doubles and career-best five RBIs…started two of the Hornets’ three Big Sky Tournament games…committed just two errors all season, good for a .972 fielding percentage…a Big Sky all-academic selection.
2020 Season
Played in 24 games in a shortened season, including 21 starts at second base…hit .214 (12-for-56), but also had nine walks and a .333 on-base percentage…stole five bases in six attempts…had a stretch of three games (Feb. 22-23) where she combined to go 5-for-8 with three walks, a triple, stolen base and three RBIs…all three of those RBIs came against Quinnipiac…has played in 77 games (69 starts) through her first two seasons with the program…a Big Sky all-academic selection.
2019 Season
Played in 53 games in her first season with the Hornets, including 48 starts…45 of those starts came at second base, and three at designated player…an honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference selection after batting .282 (42-for-149) with 15 runs, five doubles, three triples, a homer and 16 RBIs…also stole four bases in five attempts…hit .311 with runners on base…had four hitting streaks of at least four games long…also hit .282 in conference play…began the season with eight hits in her first 11 at-bats…hit first collegiate home run in a 6-1 home win over UC Davis.
Prior to Sacramento State
Played the 2018 season at the University of San Diego of the West Coast Conference…started 49 games as a true freshman for a Toreros squad that finished the season 25-27…started 45 games at second base, and the final four games of the season at shortstop…a second team WCC all-academic selection…hit .241 (35-for-145) with 19 runs scored, three doubles, three triples, nine RBIs and a .315 on-base percentage…was 8-for-11 in stolen base opportunities…committed just six errors in her 45 starts at second base.
High School
A 2017 graduate of Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom, Calif…played four years of softball as a middle infielder…spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Benicia High School, and her junior and senior years at Vista Del Lago…was a four-time all-league selection…as a senior, she was named team MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and honorable mention all-Metro after batting .482 with nine doubles, eight triples, 33 runs scored, 26 RBIs and 23 stolen bases…helped Vista to a combined record of 46-14 overall, 19-1 in league and two Capital Athletic League championships…as a sophomore, she was the starting second baseman for a Benicia HS team that won the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section title while going 28-4 overall and 15-0 in league…that season, she hit .394 with 32 runs scored.
Personal
Parents are Jim Vretzos and Wendy Ludwig…a kinesiology major who graduated from Sacramento State in May of 2021…competed on the Greek National Team at the 2016 World Championships…also competed for the Greek Junior National Team at the 2016 European Championships…played four years of club ball for the All-American Sports Academy.
