All 21 Sacramento State intercollegiate teams play at the Div. I level. After spending 33 years at the FCS (Div. I-AA) level (1993-2025), Hornet Football moved to the FBS level in 2026. In addition, after the majority of Sacramento State's sports spent 30 years (1996-2026) in the Big Sky Conference, Sacramento State has made the move to the Big West Conference in 2026-27.
