Biography

2022 Season
Made 18 appearances in the circle, including eight starts…threw 38.1 innings…was a team captain…did not allow an earned run during both her appearances at the Big Sky Tournament…started seven of her final eight appearances of the season…tossed two innings of shutout relief against San Jose State during each of the first two days of the season…a Big Sky Conference all-academic selection for the third straight season…also named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete for the second straight year.

2021 Season
Made 22 appearances in the circle, the second most on the team…five of those games were starts, and the other 17 came in relief…went 3-4 with a 5.25 ERA…walked just 15 batters in 65.1 innings…bettered her numbers in Big Sky play to 1-0 with a 4.25 ERA and a save…had a three-inning save in a road win at Montana…tossed a six-hit shutout in the Hornets’ 6-0 win over rival UC Davis…in that game, she needed just 89 pitches to go seven innings…threw five innings of shutout relief in the Hornets’ 4-3 win over Weber State at the Big Sky Tournament…that win eliminated Weber State, who were the Big Sky’s regular season champions…threw at least three innings of shutout work on four occasions, including five innings of no-hit ball in a 5-3 loss to Idaho State…a Big Sky all-academic selection, and NFCA Scholar-Athlete.

2020 Season
Made eight appearances in the circle in a shortened season, including three starts…had a win, save and a 3.00 ERA…threw 21.0 innings…pitched six innings and received the win against Quinnipiac…had a three-inning save against Saint Mary’s in which she allowed just two hits with two strikeouts…allowed no earned runs and just one hit in a four-inning start against UConn…went at least four innings in all three of her starts…a Big Sky all-academic selection.

2019 Season
Appeared in five games in the circle for the Hornets…pitched in seven innings, striking out three…did not allow a run her final two appearances of the season, tossing one inning of shutout relief at Pacific, and three shutout innings against Idaho State…in the Idaho State game, she limited the Bengals to just one hit with a pair of strikeouts.

High School

A 2018 graduate of Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, Calif…played four years of varsity softball for the Trailblazers…helped Sierra Canyon to a four-year combined record of 79-53-3 overall, and 40-7-1 in Gold Coast League play…the team won the Gold Coast League title each of her last three seasons, including an 11-1 mark during both her junior and senior years…Sierra Canyon reached at least the second round of the CIF Div. VI Southern Section playoff each year, which included falling in the championship game in 2017…as a senior, she was named second team all-state, the Gold Coast League MVP, first team all-conference, first team all-area and first team all-CIF after going 15-8 with a 1.95 ERA and batting .449…a four-time all-league selection (first team on three occasions) and a three-time all-CIF choice…for her career, she went 49-19 with a 1.82 ERA, which included 530 strikeouts in 407.2 innings pitched…posted a 6.3-to-1 career strikeout-to walk ratio (530 strikeouts, 84 walks)…at the plate, in 112 career games, she hit .450 (158-for-351) with 121 runs scored, 34 doubles, 11 triples, 21 home runs, 116 RBIs, a .503 on-base percentage and a 1.292 ops…set the school record by striking out 142 batters during her freshman season, and broke the record again with 158 strikeouts as a senior…threw two perfect games during her junior year.

Personal
Parents are Victor and Season Nunez…an exercise science major who graduated from Sacramento State in the spring of 2022…played travel ball for the So Cal Firecrackers, So Cal Choppers and So Cal Explosion.
