Biography

2021 Beach Season
Played in all nine matches at the No. 2 spot in the Hornets’ lineup with teammate Kalani Hayes…the tandem went 3-6, which included wins over Pacific (twice) and San Jose State…of their nine matches together, four went to three sets…in those four three-setters, Swinney/Hayes posted a 3-1 record.

2020 Beach Season
Played all six matches during a shortened spring season…played in three matches at No. 3 in the lineup with Claudia Wilson, and three times at No. 2 with Macey Hayden…defeated a tandem from San Francisco with Hayden by a 21-18, 21-17 score…lost two matches in three sets against Pacific and Santa Clara.

2019 Beach Season
Played in 12 matches during the season…missed nine matches because of injury…played once at No. 2 in the team’s lineup, seven times at No. 3, and four times at No. 4…won three times over a two-day span (March 15-16) with Macey Hayden against opponents from San Francisco and San Jose State (twice)…also played matches during the year with Cianna Andrews and Kayla Subbert.

2018 Beach Season
An honorable mention all-Big West Conference selection…played in 13 of the team’s 21 matches…played each of the team’s final 13 matches of the season with doubles partner Brigitte Murdock…Swinney/Murdock went 6-7 at No. 5, including a victory over Boise State, and three wins against CSU Bakersfield…the tandem won five of their last eight matches of the season.…four of their seven losses came against opponents ranked among the top 10 in the nation…won four straight matches over a five-day stretch from April 7-11.

2017 Beach Season

Played in three matches during her first season of beach volleyball…posted a 1-2 record, including an 0-1 mark at No. 4 and 1-1 at No. 5…all three of those matches came with partner Lana Brown…the duo’s victory came in straight sets (21-11, 21-14) at No. 5 against San Francisco on March 11.

High School
A 2016 graduate of Fort Bend Austin High School in Sugar Land, Texas…played four years of varsity volleyball for the Bulldogs…that included playing the final three years as a starting six-rotation outside hitter…as a senior, she helped the 2015 team to a 46-3 overall record, a 16-0 district mark, an appearance in the semifinals of the Class 6A state tournament and a Region III-6A championship…that season, she was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) honorable mention All-American and third team all-state after averaging 3.11 kills, 2.84 digs and 0.51 aces per set while hitting .269 as a six-rotation outside hitter…a three-time first team all-district selection, Fort Bend Austin posted a three-year combined overall record of 113-19 and 45-1 in district matches since she became a starter as a sophomore in 2013…was part of two straight area championship and three consecutive district championship squads…the Bulldogs lost just one set over her final two years in district play…a three-time all-tournament selection, including the 2015 Clear Creek Tournament MVP…posted over 340 kills each of her final three seasons, and had the rare distinction of being a member of the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs club…finished her career with 1,178 kills and 1,112 digs in 419 sets played… raised her hitting percentage every year of her career, and, despite coming off the bench her freshman season, finished with career averages of 2.81 kills, 2.65 digs and 0.59 aces per set…finished with 249 career aces and a healthy service aces-to-error ratio (249 aces, 188 service errors)…in 1,626 serves sent her way, she had just 65 reception errors, good for an impressive .960 reception rate.

Personal
A communication studies major who graduated in the spring of 2021…parents are John and Rachael Swinney…played for the Houston Skyline Junior Volleyball Club…sister, Kaitlyn, competed for the Rice swim team.
