Biography

2017 Beach Season
One of six Hornets to play in all 19 matches…18 of those matches came at either No. 1 or 2 in the lineup with teammate Morgan Stanley…with Stanley, Cannon posted an 8-10 record, including a 5-8 mark at No. 1 and 3-2 at No. 2…at No. 2 in the team’s lineup at the Big West Tournament, the tandem beat fifth-ranked Long Beach State’s Sasha Karelov/Kobi Pekich by a 30-28, 21-19 score…posted a 2-1 record at the Big West Tournament, including a 21-15, 21-15 victory over CSUN at No. 2…with the score tied at 2-2 in the season opener at Santa Clara, Cannon/Stanley clinched the 3-2 win at No. 1 with a 21-14, 12-21, 15-13 victory…also played one match at No. 1 with Lexie Skalbeck during the regular season against CSUN on April 1…a Big West all-academic selection.

2016 Beach Season
One of six Hornets to play in all 22 matches…an honorable mention all-Big West Conference selection…played all 22 contests at No. 1 with teammate Sloan Lovett…the pair got better as the season progressed, winning four of their last seven matches…that included earning victories at No. 1 in both of their Big West Championship matches…during the postseason event, Cannon/Lovett beat doubles teams from CSUN (21-15, 22-24, 15-13) and Cal Poly (23-21, 21-16)…the duo also had a pair of victories against nationally ranked Cal, as well as wins over Boise State and San Jose State…of Cannon/Lovett’s seven wins during the year, four came in straight sets…a Big West all-academic selection.

2015 Beach Season
In her second season of sand volleyball at Sacramento State, Cannon posted a 4-10 record…that included 3-10 at No. 2 with Morgan Stanley, and 1-0 at No. 2 with Lexie Skalbeck…the win with Skalbeck came in straight sets against San Jose State (21-14, 21-15)…Cannon and Stanley provided the match-clinching point in a 3-2 win over Cal after they won their match at No. 2 by a 21-19, 21-17 score…the tandem split their final four matches of the season, which included the win against Cal and a 21-11, 21-18 victory against Cal Poly.

2014 Beach Season
Posted an overall record of 5-7 during her first season of sand with the Hornets, going 3-3 with Sloan Lovett at No. 2, and posting a 2-4 record with Morgan Stanley at No. 3…played the final six matches of the year with Lovett…the tandem won three of their last five matches of the season, including victories over Cal Poly, Stanford and San Jose State…with the scored tied at 2-2 against Cal Poly, Cannon and Lovett provided the match clincher with a 21-17, 21-19 victory…with Stanley, she beat teams from Cal Poly and Boise State.

Prior to Sacramento State
Played the 2013 indoor season at Santa Clara of the West Coast Conference…playing behind a pair of senior middle blockers, she appeared in 11 matches, including five starts and 26 sets played…finished the season with 25 kills, seven digs and seven blocks while averaging 1.21 kills per set against conference competition…that included a season-best six kills and .667 hitting percentage against Portland.

High School
A 2013 graduate of Sacramento’s Rio Americano High School…was a four-year starter on the varsity volleyball team…a two-time all-state, four-time first team all-Capital Athletic League and three-time Sacramento Bee All-Metro selection…finished her career with 1,344 kills, 309 blocks, 480 digs and a .439 hitting percentage…raised her kills per set average all four years of her prep career, culminating in 5.14 kills per set during a senior season in which she was a first team all-state selection and the league MVP…helped lead Rio Americano to a four-year combined record of 115-42 overall and 42-10 in conference…the Raiders never finished lower than second place in the league standings during her tenure…was also a second team all-state selection as a junior after hitting .529 with averages of 3.11 kills and 0.68 blocks per set.

Personal
Parents are Davis and Jacqui…a communication studies major who graduated magnum cum laude from Sacramento State in May of 2017…played in the summers of 2012 and 2013 for the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC)…was the starting middle blocker for both teams, including the Girls 18s squad that finished fifth in the nation in the Open Division at the 2013 Junior Nationals.
