SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State won two of three doubles matches, and swept all six singles matches to defeat Illinois State, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon on campus.
With the victory, Sacramento State improved to 7-5 overall and 4-2 at home. The Hornets conclude their five-match homestand with a 4-1 record. The team will jump back into Big Sky Conference play later this week.
Doni Gashi (No. 2),
Nick Bowles (No. 4) and
Sebastian Vlahos (No. 6) each won in straight sets, while
Martin Duris (No. 1),
Freddie Healey (No. 3) and
David Dai (No. 5) each won in three sets.
Both Bowles and Dai won their fourth straight singles matches.
In doubles play, the teams of
Adryan Ballestero/Bowles (7-5 at No. 1), and Gashi/Healey (6-2 at No. 2) were each victorious.
The Hornets are back in action on Sunday when they are in Moscow for a matchup at Idaho at 3 p.m. Sacramento State is 1-0 in Big Sky play, defeating Weber State, 5-2, at home on Feb. 28.
