DAVIS, Calif. -- Sacramento State sent nine players to the Aggie Tennis Invitational, held Friday-Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The event marked the first tournament of the fall for the Hornets.
Highlighting the Hornets' performance at the three-day event was the play of doubles team

Miles Whitehead who claimed the Flight B doubles championship. The pair went 4-0, and won both their semifinal and championship matches by 8-4 scores over duos from Saint Mary's and Nevada, respectively.
The Hornets played four doubles teams, and they combined for an 8-3 record. That included a pair of wins from freshman

Doni Gashi. The doubles team of freshman
Freddie Healey/sophomore
Nick Bowles also won a pair of matches.
In singles play, eight of the Hornets' nine players registered at least one singles victory. Of the nine Hornets at the tournament, eight were underclassmen, including four freshmen and four sophomores. In fact, Sacramento State has just one upperclassman on the roster in Gashi.
The Hornets return to action for their second fall tournament Oct. 16-21 at the ITA Northwest Regionals in Stockton, Calif.
