CHENEY, Wash. -- The Sacramento State women's tennis team rebounded from back-to-back Big Sky Conference defeats with a dominating victory on Friday afternoon, cruising past Eastern Washington for a 6-1 triumph on the road in Cheney, Wash.

The win improved the Hornets to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in Big Sky play as they continued to build upon on of their finest seasons in more than a decade. The Eagles, meanwhile, lost their eighth consecutive dual, falling to 3-16 overall and 1-7 in league play in their final match of the regular season.

A tightly contested doubles point went in favor of Sacramento State as the Hornets claimed victory at No. 3 with a 6-1 win by Lou Baudouin and Mayya Gorbunova to get their team on the board, but it was a 7-5 win at No. 2 by Maddy Ferreros and Irene Riva that clinched the 1-0 lead.

Ferreros and Riva improved to 12-2 overall on the season with their clinching victory, leading all Sacramento State doubles teams in wins and all coming at the No. 2 spot. Meanwhile, the tandem of Baudouin and Gorbanova improved to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in league play.

The Hornets then moved quickly to clinch the dual in singles, posting wins at the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 spots. Gorbunova improved to 11-4 at the top spot in the lineup, defeating Scout Mathews, 6-3, 6-1, while Baudouin, who was celebrating her birthday on Friday, improved to 15-3 overall with her 6-0, 6-2, win over Anait Arutiunian.

Riva rounded out the trio of wins, improving to a team-best 16-2 in singles this year with her 6-0, 6-1, win over Leandra Nizetic at the No. 4 spot.

Sacramento State rounded out its day with a 6-3, 7-5, win by Ferreros over Jennifer Kida at No. 2, and a 6-4, 6-2, win by Ejsmont at No. 6 over Kelly Arends.

The Hornets close out their road trip on Sunday (April 14) at 9:30 a.m., taking on host Idaho.
