Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week (Sept. 30-Oct. 6)
Quarterback Kevin Thomson was named the Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week after guiding the Hornets to a 48-27 win over then-No. 22 Eastern Washington at Hornet Stadium.
Thomson completed 30-of-44 pass attempts for 315 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for 36 yards and a pair of scores. His 351 yards of total offense led the team and he accounted for five touchdowns for the second time in his career.
After EWU scored on its first drive, Thomson connected with Isaiah Gable for a 41-yard touchdown pass. The senior gave the team the lead, which it would never relinquish, with a 1-yard plunge later in the first quarter. He added a 20-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Dotson in the second quarter and a 7-yard strike to Parker Clayton in the third. He ended his scoring with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter which capped a 13-play series which took nearly seven minutes off the clock.
Thomson has now thrown for 300 yards five times which ties him for fourth place in school history. He also recorded his 50th touchdown accounted for during his career — making him just the fourth Hornet player to hit that milestone.
