Northwestern Mutual Student-Athlete of the Week, Feb. 17-23

Sacramento State baseball pitcher Ty Nichols was named the Northwestern Mututal Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Hornets to a 1-0 win at #21 Texas A&M. The junior threw seven shutout innings against an Aggie team that had scored 34 runs over its first four games of the season. He allowed just six hits and one walk and needed just 77 pitches to go seven before giving way to closer Sutter McLoughlin, who got the last six outs to preserve the shutout. Nichols is 2-0 on the season with a 1.38 ERA, allowing just two runs on 11 hits and one walk in 13.0 innings pitched.
