Northwestern
Mutual Student-Athlete of the Week, Jan. 20-26
Sacramento State junior Zach Coniglio
has been selected as the Northwestern Mutual Sacramento State
Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26. Competing
at the Jacksons Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, on Jan. 24-25,
Coniglio finished first in the shot put with a personal best of
60-feet, 10.5-inches. That distance vaulted the Martinez, Calif.,
native to the top of the Big Sky standings and placed him 24th in
NCAA Div. I this season. Coniglio, who is the defending conference
champion in the indoor and outdoor shot put, now leads the Big Sky
by over five feet. His distance is the second best in school
history and the longest since David Nichols set the Sacramento
State record in 2007.
