LOHSCHEIDT NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah – After opening her senior season with a straight-set singles win on Saturday Sacramento State's Sophie Lohscheidt has been named Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lohscheidt, a senior from Landsberg, Germany, earned a win at No. 5 singles in Sacramento State's season-opening 4-3 loss to San Francisco on Saturday. She had the most dominant win in the match, topping USF freshman Genevieve McCloskey by a 6-1, 6-4 score. McCloskey had earned a straight-set win at No. 2 singles in San Francisco's first match of the year.

One of just two seniors on the Hornet roster, Lohscheidt also played at No. 2 doubles with sophomore Olivia Boija against the Dons but took a narrow 6-3 loss. The Hornets are right back in action this afternoon at San Jose State.
