WOMEN'S TENNIS DOWNS MONTANA, 6-1, TO STAY ATOP BIG SKY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Big Sky Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Montana on Friday at the SpareTime Indoor Tennis Center.

The Hornets moved to 6-0 in conference play and 6-8 overall. The Grizzlies suffered their first Big Sky loss of the year and dropped to 8-6, 4-1.

Sacramento State won the doubles point with victories from Rebeca Delgado and Olivia Boija (8-4) at No. 1 and Katharina Knoebl and Jennifer Nguyen (8-5) at No. 2.

The team went on to capture the first five singles matches in straight sets. Delgado defeated Heather Davidson, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 and Nguyen beat Sasha Carter, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 for a pair of quick victories.

Knoebl provided the clinching point by handing Ashley Mackey a 6-2, 6-4, loss at No. 5. The Hornets' other victories came from Sophie Lohscheidt at No. 3 and Boija at No. 4.

The victory extended Sacramento State's streak of Big Sky Conference victories to 98 games. The team will have an opportunity to add to that run on Saturday when the Hornets host Montana State at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
