WOMEN’S SOCCER HOME FRIDAY TO HOST UC SANTA BARBARA
In its final week of play before Big Sky Conference play commences, Sacramento State (4-3-0) hosts UC Santa Barbara (3-3-2) at 4 p.m. Friday and will be on the road to face Fresno State (1-6-0) on Sunday night at 6 p.m.

WOMEN’S SOCCER TOPS FRESNO PACIFIC 2-0 FOR SECOND STRAIGHT SHUTOUT
After a scoreless first half Sacramento State got goals from seniors Shelby Salvacion and Kristen Bridges in the second half to pick up a 2-0 win on Friday at Fresno Pacific. The game was the second consecutive 2-0 win for the Hornets, who defeated Canisius by the same score last Sunday.

WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYS FRIDAY AT FRESNO PACIFIC
As nonconference play begins to wind down the Sacramento State women’s soccer team (3-3-0) plays just its second road match of the year on Friday night at Fresno Pacific (0-2-0). The contest against the Sunbirds will be the only game of the week for the Hornets.

WOMEN’S SOCCER SCORES 2-0 VICTORY OVER CANISIUS
Junior Presley Strother and senior Kristen Bridges each scored their first career goals early in the first half and Sacramento State held Canisius to just three shots on goal in a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Hornet Field.

WOMEN’S SOCCER COMES UP SHORT AGAINST NEVADA
In a game without many quality scoring chances for either team, Nevada found a goal in the 77th minute and limited the Hornets to just one shot on goal in the game in a 1-0 win on Friday at Hornet Field.

San Jose State struck for an early goal in the 13th minute and, in a very physical second half in which each team was issued a red card, was able to fend off the Hornets and finish 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

With just over five minutes left in regulation time Sacramento State sophomore Kassidy Kellogg put home a corner kick from sophomore Maggie Pleis to break a late tie and lift the Hornets to a 2-1 win over Bakersfield on Friday at Hornet Field.

Fresh off a thrilling double overtime victory over Pacific on Sunday, Sacramento State (1-1-0) returns to its home field to host Bakersfield (0-2-0) at 5 p.m. Friday at Hornet Field. The Hornets will also play their first road match of the season at 1 p.m. Sunday at San José State (0-1-0).

LUM GOAL WITH 12 SECONDS LEFT IN 2ND OT GIVES WOMEN’S SOCCER 1-0 WIN
Sacramento State sophomore midfielder Jennifer Lum put home a shot off the crossbar with just 12 seconds left in the second overtime period to break a scoreless tie and give women’s soccer a 1-0 win over Pacific on Sunday.

WOMEN’S SOCCER DOWNED BY UC DAVIS ON LATE GOAL
Sacramento State and UC Davis played 90 minutes of mostly even soccer, but a Hornet turnover led to an Aggie goal in the 81st minute and the visitors were able to finish off a 1-0 win in the 2014 season opener for both teams.

WOMEN’S SOCCER OPENS SEASON HOSTING UC DAVIS, PACIFIC
The 2014-15 Sacramento State athletic year officially begins on Friday as the Hornet women’s soccer team hosts Causeway rival UC Davis at 5 p.m. at Hornet Field. The team will also host another local rival as Pacific visits the Sacramento State pitch for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS EXHIBITION GAME OVER CALIFORNIA STORM
Sacramento State sophomore defender Alexa Heinzer scored the game’s only goal in the 50th minute and senior goalkeeper Kimberly Mata made five saves as the Hornets defeated the California Storm, 1-0, in an exhibition game Saturday at Hornet Field.

WOMEN’S SOCCER WORKING FOR 2014 SEASON SUCCESS
After opening training for the 2014 season on Wednesday the Sacramento State women’s soccer team is out to prove its worth as a contender for a Big Sky title. The squad won Big Sky crowns in 2007 and 2010 but has come up short of qualifying for the conference tournament in each of the last three seasons.

WOMEN’S SOCCER PICKED SEVENTH IN BIG SKY PRESEASON COACHES POLL
The Sacramento State women’s soccer team has been picked to finish seventh out of 11 teams in the Big Sky in 2014, the conference announced Wednesday. The 11 Big Sky soccer coaches voted in the preseason poll, with 2013 regular season-champion Portland State narrowly edging 2013 Big Sky Tournament-champion Weber State as the predicted conference winner.
