BRAIDA NAMED MPSF FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State gymnast Kendra Braida was selected as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Freshman of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Braida this season.

Competing in a three-team meet at Utah State which also included San Jose State, Braida led off the Hornet lineup on balance beam and finished with the high score on the team. Braida scored a career-high 9.800 to tie for fifth place. The score easily surpassed the Elk Grove, Calif., native's previous high of 9.575 from the first two meets.

Sacramento State will return to action on Friday, Jan. 26, against San Jose State. The meet, which will start at 7 p.m., marks the third time this season at the Hornets have Spartans have squared off in three weeks.
