HORNET STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN 35 WINTER ALL-ACADEMIC AWARDS
Sacramento State student-athletes in winter sports men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and women’s gymnastics have combined to earn 35 conference all-Academic honors.

Sacramento State's Kalliah McCartney scored 38.950 to place ninth in the all-around in the first semifinal of the NCAA Div. I Women's Gymnastics Championships on Friday.

McCARTNEY BEGINS NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ON FRIDAY
Junior Kalliah McCartney will make Sacramento State history when she competes in the first session of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships on Friday in Birmingham, Ala. McCartney will begin the competition at 11 a.m. PDT in BJCC Arena.

McCARTNEY ADVANCES TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE ALL-AROUND
Sacramento State junior Kalliah McCartney became the first Hornet gymnast to qualify for the NCAA Championships after placing sixth in the all-around at the Seattle Regional on Saturday at the University of Washington.

NCAA POSTSEASON BEGINS ON SATURDAY FOR GYMNASTICS
An unprecedented seven Sacramento State gymnasts will compete in the NCAA postseason beginning on Saturday, April 5, at the NCAA Seattle Regional. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Arena on the University of Washington campus.

Seven Sacramento State gymnasts were selected to compete at the Seattle Regional of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship. The group is comprised of all-arounders Kalliah McCartney and Jesse Williams as well as event specialists Kailey Hansen, Dallas Smith, Julia Konner, Kaila Kilwein and Kayla Wonderly.

WILLIAMS NAMED MPSF NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Sacramento State redshirt freshman Jesse Williams was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnastics Newcomer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Williams this season and the second for the Hornets as she joins Julia Konner.

GYMNASTICS SCORES SEASON HIGH IN WIN OVER UC DAVIS, ALASKA ANCHORAGE
Junior Kalliah McCartney tied for first on vault and was the sole winner on bars and beam to guide the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a season high 195.275 on Friday night at The Nest. The score, which was tied for the seventh best in school history, gave the Hornets wins over No. 30 UC Davis (194.800) and Alaska Anchorage (188.550).

GYMNASTICS TRAVELS TO UTAH STATE FOR FRIDAY NIGHT MEET
The Sacramento State gymnastics team will make its final regular season trip out of Northern California this season year when it heads to Logan, Utah, to face Utah State on Friday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. PT. Following this week’s meet, the Hornets will compete at home on March 7, at San Jose State (March 14) and at UC Davis for the MPSF Championships (March 22).

McCARTNEY TIES FOR FIRST ON VAULT; GYMNASTICS FINISHES THIRD
Kalliah McCartney tied for first on vault to lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team on Saturday night at Cal. The Hornets could not overcome a rough first rotation on beam and finished third with a team score of 193.425. Cal won the meet at 196.426 while Washington was second at 195.000.

Sacramento State gymnast Kailey Hansen was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Specialist of the Week, it was announced today. The weekly award is the second for Hansen this season as she was the MPSF Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 8.

GYMNASTICS SCORES SEASON HIGH AGAINST CAL AND SAN JOSE STATE
Sacramento State scored a season high 194.900 but finished third as No. 26 California and No. 28 San Jose State also posted their highest scores of the year on Friday night at The Nest. The Golden Bears won the meet with a total of 196.725 while the Spartans came in second at 195.725.

GYMNASTICS WELCOMES SJSU AND CAL FOR VALENTINE'S DAY MEET
Sacramento State will host its lone meet in the month of February when it welcomes San Jose State and California on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. in The Nest. The meet was originally scheduled to be a dual between SJSU and the Hornets but Cal was added early this week. The Golden Bears were slated to compete at Oregon State last weekend but the meet was cancelled due to snow.

Led by wins from Kalliah McCartney on vault, Kailey Hansen on beam and Katie Osaki on floor, the Sacramento State gymnastics team was able to hold on for a 192.675-192.450 win at Seattle Pacific on Friday night.

GYMNASTICS RENEWS SERIES WITH SEATTLE PACIFIC ON FRIDAY
Nearing the midpoint of its season, the Sacramento State gymnastics team will look to begin its second-half surge on Friday night when it competes at Seattle Pacific. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. at Brougham Pavilion. Following this week’s action, the Hornets will have only five regular season meets remaining before the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships at UC Davis on March 22.

Sacramento State will make the short trip across the Causeway to face UC Davis in the second of four meetings this season. The meet will take place at The Pavilion on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. The winner of the meet will receive 1.25 points towards the ScholarShare Causeway Cup.

Julia Konner and Dallas Smith each claimed individual event victories and Kalliah McCartney finished first in the all-around as Sacramento State edged Southeast Missouri by a half a tenth of a point (193.150-193.100) on Friday night at The Nest. The score was the second highest for the Hornets this season.

The Sacramento State gymnastics team scored 192.450 but placed third in a three-team meet at Stanford on Sunday afternoon. The host, and 12th-ranked Cardinal won the meet with a total of 195.925 edging No. 19 Arizona (195.850) by .075 points.

Junior Kalliah McCartney finished first on vault, tied for first on beam and placed second in the all-around to help the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 192.225 total on Saturday night at Arizona State. That score placed the team third in the meet behind San Jose State (194.200) and ASU (193.525).

Kailey Hansen and Kalliah McCartney tied for first on beam to help propel Sacramento State to its its highest score in a season opener on Sunday in front of a capacity crowd at The Nest. The Hornets placed third in the meet with a 194.400 finishing behind No. 9 Stanford (194.825) and No. 22 California (194.650) and ahead of UC Davis (193.450) and San Jose State (193.325).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL AND GYMNASTICS RECEIVE NEW LOCKER ROOMS
The Sacramento State women’s basketball and gymnastics teams came back to campus this fall to brand-new locker rooms in Yosemite Hall. Each locker room has been completely renovated with new lockers and expanded amenities for the two Hornet squads.
