SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Kalliah McCartney, Nicole Meiller and Kailey Hansen were each selected to compete in the NCAA Gymnastics Corvallis Regional on April 6.
The meet will be hosted by Oregon State and will also feature Georgia, Arkansas, Boise State, Arizona State and Cal. The top two teams from the each of the six regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships. The top two all-arounders and any event champion, outside of those teams will also move on to the NCAA Championships.
McCartney was the top individual all-arounder selected out of the West Region. The sophomore became the first gymnast in school history to average 39-plus in the all-around as she finished the year with an average of 39.069 in 12 meets. She will be making her second consecutive trip to an NCAA regional.
Meiller will be making her third NCAA postseason appearance and second consecutive on bars. The senior averaged 9.809 on the event during the season and set a career best with a 9.900 on Jan. 11. She earned second team all-Western Athletic Conference honors after tying for fifth place at the conference championships with a score of 9.875.
Hansen will return to the regionals on beam and is the alternate for vault. The junior returned from a knee injury on Feb. 10 and finished the season with a Regional Qualifying Score of 9.800. She had four scores of 9.8 or better in her eight routines, including a 9.900 against UC Davis on Feb. 22. She finished tied with Alaska Anchorage's M'rcy Matsunami for the berth on vault but lost out on the second tie-breaker.
