BLAIR SHOOTS 71 FOR SECOND STRAIGHT ROUND AT THE PRINCESS ANNE INVITATIONAL

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.— Freshman Tess Blair posted her second consecutive round of 71 and Nishtha Mada and Corinne Viden each shot 72 during the second round of The Princess Anne Invitational on Saturday.

Sacramento State shot 295 during the second round and fell to ninth place. The Hornets, however, are within five strokes of three teams, heading into the final round on Sunday. Virginia Tech pushed its lead to 5-strokes after shooting 281 on Saturday. The Hokies sit at 557 through two rounds and are followed by LSU (562), Chattanooga (571), Coastal Carolina (573) and UCF (576) in the top five.

Blair continued her hot play to start the season and was 1-over par for the second day. She was 3-over on the front nine with bogeys on the par-4 fourth and fifth as well as the par-3 ninth. Blair was 2-under on the back side of the course with birdies on the par-4 14th and par-5 18th. Her 36-hole total of 71-71-142 leaves her seven strokes off the lead.

Madan is tied for 17th at 71-72-143 and is 3-over par. She started Saturday with a double bogey but made the turn at 1-over following a birdie on the par-4 fifth. Madan parred 10 consecutive holes (6th-15th) before a bogey on the par-4 16th. She added two more pars to end her round.

Viden scattered four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey throughout her round to finish at 2-over. She doubled the par-4 third but followed with a birdie on the par-4 fourth. After three pars, she bogeyed the par-5 eighth and made the turn at 2-over. The junior birdied the par-5 10th hole to get to 1-over but added bogeys on the par-4 12th and 15th. She closed her round by alternating birdies and a bogey on the final three hole.

Sofie Babic and Sydney Smith each shot 80 to complete the team total. Babic had a birdie, seven bogeys and a pair of double bogeys in her round. She closed with pars on her final seven holes. Smith had seven bogeys and a triple bogey during her day.

Cloe Grand shot 77 and Hicks 80 while playing as individuals. Grand had a birdie on the par-5 eighth as well as eight bogeys. Hicks had five bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey.

Sacramento State will play the third round with College of Charleston and Campbell beginning at 5 a.m. PT on Sunday.
