SOFIE BABIC NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State's Sofie Babic was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the second for Babic and the fourth for a Hornet golfer this season.

The sophomore was the medalist at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic and played a key role in Sacramento State winning the team championships. Babic shot 71-71-69-211 to claim her first collegiate victory. Her total of 211 is the lowest in the Big Sky this season and ties her for the school 54-hole record.

Babic was not the only Hornet to shine at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Astha Madan and Julia Becker tied for second place, Corinne Viden tied for 13th place and Nishtha Madan tied for 25th. Those scores helped Sacramento State win its third consecutive team title and set the school tournament record by nine strokes. The Hornets will next compete at the Big Sky Championships on April 20-22 in Boulder City, Nev.
