WOMEN'S GOLF, PERSSON SET SCHOOL RECORDS, TEAM TIES FOR SECOND

SEDONA, Ariz. — The Sacramento State women's golf team recorded its second consecutive round of 301 and tied for second place at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday. The Hornets finished the two-round tournament with a total of 602 which set the school record by one stroke.

Individually, Lisa Persson recorded the lowest 36-hole total in Hornet history with at 71-74-145. Persson broke the previous record of 147 which was held by Samantha Saffold and Julie Shutler. Tiffany Nichols also moved into the 36-hole top 10 at 78-71-149 which tied her for fourth at Sacramento State.

Persson tied for fourth place in the tournament, marking her second top five finish of her Hornet career while Nichols tied for ninth. Her second round score tied her career low and her 36th hole total is the best of her career.

Sagee Palavivtana provided a round of 77 for the third lowest score of the day. Palavivatana tied for 33rd overall at 79-77-156. Freshman Chloe Bartek tied for 25th with rounds of 79 and 77. The final scores were provided by Natalie Bodnar who tied for 33rd (77-79-156).

Xavier maintained its lead to win the tournament by 14 strokes. The Muskateers totaled 299-289-588 to finish 14 strokes ahed of Sacramento State and Northern Arizona.

Jacquie LeMarr of NAU was the medalist at 70-71-141.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Fresno State Lexus Classic on March 17-18.
