WOMEN'S GOLF ADDS ASHTA MADAN TO SIGNING CLASS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's golf team added to its recruiting class with the signing of Astha Madan to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today. Madan will enroll as a freshman at the University in the fall of 2014.
A native of Gurgoan, India, Madan was selected as one of three female golfers to represent India at the Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course. During the past year, she finished second at the Eastern India U18 Junior Girls Amateur Golf Amateur Golf Championship after shooting 73-73-75. Madan was also third at both the Southern Indian Ladies Championship (72-76-73) and the Karnataka Amateur (74-71-74).
"Ashta is a really talented golfer with a lot of international experience," Sacramento State Director of Golf David Sutherland said. "She has played at a high level and performed well against some of the best young players in the world."
Madan is the second golfer to sign with the team, joining Katie Dunaway.
