Big Sky All-Conference Release

RENO, Nev. – After leading all sophomores with 17.6 points per game and finishing the regular season top 10 in scoring, field goals made, three-point field goals made, and more, sophomore guard Hannah Friend was named to the all-Big Sky third team, the league announced Sunday.

The honor is Friend's first and comes during her debut season with the Hornets in which she led the team in scoring and games started and was second in minutes, rebounds, blocks, and steals.

A native of San Clemente, Friend scored 511 points this season for the Hornets, fifth most in the Big Sky. For much of the season, she was among the top-50 in all of NCAA Div. I women's basketball with more than 18.0 points per game.

She scored a career-high 34 points early in the season against UC Riverside and topped the 30-point mark two other times against Antelope Valley (32) and Montana State (31). She had 20 or more points a team-leading 12 times and broke double digits in 24 of 29 games this season.

In addition to her scoring acumen, Friend contributed in all other categories, as well, finishing second on the team in rebounds (195) and rebounds per game (6.7), as well as in both blocks (29) and steals (45). Over the course of the season, Friend led the team in rebounds nine times and had three games with three or more blocks.

Friend was selected as the Big Sky's player of the week once this season and was named Sacramento State's Federated Insurance Player of the Week twice. She and the Hornets will face Montana to open Big Sky Tournament play at 12:05 p.m. Monday in Reno.
