SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Four Sacramento State women finished in first place and the men's and women's team each finished first in the team standings capping two busy days of action at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday.

The Sacramento State men had 11 top 10 finishes and were able to pull past Cal in the last race. The Hornets totaled 168 points while the Golden Bears had 166. Stanford was also third in the men's standings with 118 points.

Overall the meet consisted of nearly 2,000 athletes from over 80 colleges and clubs.

Sacramento State will next compete at the UC Riverside Spring Classic next Friday and Saturday. The team returns home for its final regular season meet at Hornet Stadium on March 30 for the Mondo Team Challenge.

WOMEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Amy Quinones finished first in the 800 by over a second and moved into fifth place in school history in the event. Quinones ran 2:08.54 for the fastest time by a Hornet woman in nearly seven years. Her time was just .02 seconds out of fourth place on the school top 10 and leaves her behind three women who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Quinones' previous best in the event was 2:11.09 set last season.

Cassidy Zurn broke a minute for the first time in her career in the 400-hurdles. Zurn ran 59.85 and crossed exactly one second ahead of the next competitor. Her time jumped her to sixth place in school history. Artearra Coffey added a ninth-place finish in the event in a career best 1:05.59.

Shilah Bedingfield moved into a tie for ninth place in program history in the 100. Bedingfield ran 11.87 to finish fifth overall and second among NCAA Div. I runners. That performance followed a third-place finish in the 200 on Friday night and she also anchored the team's 4x400 relay which was third in 3:45.50.

Mikayla Revera was sixth in the 200 and 400 and set PRs in both events. Revera ran 55.69 in the 400 on Saturday and 24.48 in the 200 on Friday.

Emilia Del Hoyo finished second in the 100-hurdles with a wind-aided time of 14.18. Del Hoyo's time would have been a career best if not for the wind blowing a 2.2 meters per second which was just beyond the allowable 2.0. She was also seventh in the long jump at 18-06.00.

MEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Calvin Spellman had the highest individual finish among the Hornet men in the running events. Spellman ran 49.22 to place eighth in the 400 and set a PR.

The team recorded a pair of top 10 finishes in the relays. The 4x400 team capped the night by placing fifth in 3:15.78. That effort pushed the team beyond Cal for the team title. The 4x100 team was sixht in 42.69.

WOMEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Brittany Patterson recorded the best long jump by a Sacramento State woman in 18 years and moved into third place in school history.
