Updated Meet Information & Schedule (As of 3 p.m., March 15)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sacramento State track & field team will host the first of its two regular season home meets this weekend with the Hornet Invitational. The large meet will start on Friday, March 15, with the first day of the heptathlon and decathlon as well as the men's and women's hammer and 200. The multi events will conclude on Saturday along with the remaining open events.

The Hornets were the only Big Sky Conference team to have competed during the outdoor season. Sacramento State made the short trip across the causeway for the Aggie Open last weekend and posted several PRs, including a hammer throw of 196-03 from Kyle Peterson which moved him into fifth place in school history and has him fifth nationally after the first week of the year.

BIG SKY PRESEASON POLLS ANNOUNCED
The Sacramento State women were picked to tie for first place in the Big Sky Outdoor Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Thursday. The Hornets received four first-place votes and finished with 113 total points. Northern Arizona, which has the last four women's outdoor titles, also garnered 113 total points but had the slight edge with six first-place votes. Montana State was picked third with 94 points.

In the men's poll, Sacramento State was tabbed to finish 10th out of 11 teams. NAU was a unanimous selection to repeat as the conference champion. The Lumberjacks tallied 121 points and were followed by Southern Utah (106) and Montana State (99) in the top three.

HORNET INVITATIONAL FEATURES LARGE FIELD
The two-day Hornet Invitational will see student-athletes from 52 institutions as well as several additional clubs and post-collegiate athletes. The meet will include a rare heptathlon and decathlon during the regular season. There are 11 entries in the decathlon, including Frederick Wagner V who will represent Sacramento State. The heptathlon has five entrants.

Overall, Sacramento State will have 29 women and 22 men competing in the meet. Eight Hornets are entered in four events and all but 10 will complete in two or more events.
