EMILIA DEL HOYO EARNS BIG SKY WOMEN'S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State senior Emilia Del Hoyo was named the Big Sky Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Del Hoyo during her career.

Competing in the pentathlon at Washington, Emilia Del Hoyo finished fifth overall and scored a career best 3,717 points over the five events. The senior's total moved her to third in program history and the 12th best in NCAA Div. I this year. Del Hoyo started the day by running 8.86 in the 60-hurdles. She then moved to the field events where she tied her career best by clearing 5-03.25 in the high jump. After a long jump of 18-00.25 and a shot put of 35-05.25, Del Hoyo closed the meet with a personal best of 2:25.38 in the 800.

Through two weeks of the season, the native of Manresa, Spain, currently ranks among the top five in three Big Sky events. Along with ranking third in the pentathlon, her time of 8.78 in the 60-hurdles at the Ed Jacoby Invitational places her third in the league and is just .03 seconds off the fastest mark. She is fifth in the long jump with a best of 19-00.00 also set at the Ed Jacoby Invitational.

Sacramento State continues its indoor season this Friday, Feb. 2, with the two-day New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque, N.M.
