QUICK HITS

• Fresh off a three-game home sweep of Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State (6-6) will play four games at this week's UC Riverside Classic at Amy S. Harrison Field.
• The Hornets open the tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. against UC Riverside, followed by games Saturday vs. Cal Baptist (11:30 a.m.) and UC Riverside (2 p.m.), and Sunday vs. UTEP (9 a.m.).
• The Hornets enter the tournament on a three-game winning streak after last weekend's sweep of a Loyola Marymount squad that was receiving votes in the NFCA top 25 coaches poll.
• Sacramento State was supposed to host UC Davis on Tuesday, but that game was postponed due to inclement weather. Instead, the two teams will play at Shea Stadium on April 30 at 3 p.m.
• UC Riverside is not offering video of any of the tournament games, but there will be live stats for every game. Reminder that all multimedia links for every Sacramento State game can be found next to each game on the softball schedule at hornetsports.com.
• Sacramento State is 10-11 all-time against UC Riverside (4-10 this season), including a 7-1 loss to the Highlanders in Cathedral City a year ago. The Hornets have never played Cal Baptist (2-9) as the Lancers are a first-year Div. I program. Sacramento State is 2-0 against UTEP (2-7) with the teams' last meeting (a 3-2 Hornet win) coming in the 2013 season opener in Fresno.
• Of the Hornets' 12 games, eight have come at home (6-2) and four have come on neutral fields (0-4). The games against UC Riverside will be the first time Sacramento State has played on an opponent's home field this year.
• Friday will begin a stretch that will see the Hornets play 11 straight games away from home.
• On Monday, senior right-hander Savanna Corr was named the Big Sky Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in last weekend's sweep of LMU.
• Junior outfielder Suzy Brookshire's home run on Sunday was the 35th of her career, tying the program record for most round trippers. Jamie Schloredt (2006-09) also accomplished the feat. Amazingly, Brookshire has tied the record just 12 games into her junior season. Over her career, she is averaging one home run every 9.8 at-bats.
• Brookshire also has 100 RBIs, easily becoming the fastest Hornet in program history to reach the century mark. She currently has 100 RBIs in 112 games played (all starts).
• Senior outfielder Nene Alas ranks among the Big Sky Conference's top five players in seven different categories, including runs (T-1st, 13), steals (T-1st, 4), doubles (T-2nd, 5), on-base percentage (3rd, .522), batting average (4th, .421), hits (T-4th, 16) and slugging percentage (5th, .632).
• The Hornets have five players hitting better than .350 with runners in scoring position, comprised of Brookshire (.500), Shea Graves (.500), Katie Vretzos (.500), Sydney Rasmussen (.364) and Mo Spieth (.364).
• The pitching trio of Danielle Sperry (2.05), Jensen Main (2.85) and Corr (3.12) each have healthy ERAs. Corr is allowing opponents just a .220 batting average while Sperry is at .222.
• Both Alas (6) and Graves (5) are currently riding lengthy hitting streaks. Graves has reached base safely in seven straight games, the longest stretch by a Hornet this year.
• The Hornets are 4-1 when scoring first, and 2-5 when the opponent scores the game's first run.
• Spieth is off to a big start as she is currently batting .394, and leads the Big Sky in both slugging percentage (.758) and RBIs (13). The junior also has a .476 on-base percentage and 1.234 ops.
• Out of 277 NCAA Div. I teams, the Hornets are 35th in the nation with 1.08 home runs per game.
