NOCETTI AND DAVIS NAMED TO THE ALL-BIG WEST BEACH TEAM

Big West All-Conference Team

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State's beach volleyball doubles team of senior Mikaela Nocetti and junior Sarah Davis were named honorable mention all-Big West Conference today.

The Big West is in its fourth year of sponsoring beach volleyball, and Nocetti/Davis become the fourth Sacramento State doubles team to receive all-league recognition over that span.

The all-conference squad featured six doubles teams on the first team, five on the second team, and seven received honorable mention accolades. The Big West is comprised of seven schools for beach volleyball, including fulltime members Cal Poly, CSUN, Long Beach State, Hawai'i and UC Davis. CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State are associate members. Cal Poly won this year's Big West championship, and all five of its doubles teams received some form of all-league recognition.

Nocetti/Davis won five matches together, including an 18-21, 21-18, 16-14 victory over Mia Mason and Olivia Hallaran from Arizona, which was ranked 12th in the nation at the time. The duo played 14 matches at No. 1 in the team's lineup, and four times at No. 2. Of the 18 matches, Davis and Nocetti played together, they took on a ranked opponent in seven of those contests.

Davis missed the first three matches of the season with injury, but once back, she and Nocetti played together the final 18 matches of the year. The duo posted straight set victories over opponents from San Francisco and Pacific, and three-set wins against Arizona, Cal State Northridge and UC Davis.

Sacramento State recently wrapped up its seventh season of beach volleyball after falling to eighth-ranked Cal Poly and CSU Bakersfield on April 26 at Zuma Beach in Malibu, Calif.
