BEACH VOLLEYBALL DROPS A PAIR TO CAL AND SAN JOSE STATE

FOLSOM, Calif. — Sacramento State made its Livermore Park debut, but dropped a pair of matches via 5-0 scores to both 19th-ranked Cal and San Jose State on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets were making their first appearance at Folsom's Livermore Park and its four sand courts. Sacramento State will play seven more times at the facility between now and the end of the season.

With today's results, Cal moved its record to 7-4, San Jose State is now 4-7, and the Hornets dropped to 0-9. Of Sacramento State's nine matches, five have come against nationally ranked opposition.

Sacramento State forced a third set in four of the team's 10 doubles matches today, but could not pull out a victory.

In both matches today, the Hornets used the same lineups for their Nos. 1-4 doubles teams consisting of Madeline Cannon and Sloan Lovett at No. 1, Morgan Stanley and Lauren Aikels at No. 2, Lexie Skalbeck and Lana Brown at No. 3, and Kennedy Kurtz and Hannah Meadows at No. 4.

Brie Gathright played at No. 5 with Skyler Takeda in the San Jose State match, and with Brigitte Murdock in the Cal matchup.

Sacramento State returns to action on Saturday, April 2, when the team plays three matches on the same day in Monterey. The Hornets will play Feather River College at 9:30 a.m., followed by matchups with San Jose State at 12:30 p.m., and Cal at 3:30 p.m.
